I'm not really a coder, I told myself I'm just going to work on businesses that use wordpress rather than a website built on code completely.

I may have a potential client but I noticed he doesn't use wordpress

How does one implement seo on non wordpress sites?

It depends what they are using - is the site built on another CMS platform? Is it built on some sort of framework? If there is at least some centralisation of the websites structure then it should be ok (For example, headers and footers called from a central file etc), otherwise, depending on the state of the site and of the current SEO efforts it might be worth suggesting a migration to wordpress or a similar platform as one of the required steps.

W3Schools.com

It's pretty simple to do. Even if it's a flat site. Large sites can be tedious, though.

Thanks for info. I have a site coded in php---and i know it is just not worth it. Wordpress tops. So many plugins. So many developers. So many functionalities can be added

Thanks for the replies, I'm still waiting on their reply, I offered them a really sweet deal but then that was before I realized they aren't using WordPress...id hate to turn away clients just because I work with Wp sites only.

But maybe it won't be too bad, i"ll see how it goes first.

Maybe you can let him to know important of CMS and why Wordpress tops the list when it comes to SEO. If he agrees then your job becomes easy.

Just sell them a new WP site (along with your SEO service), made by you!

If you wanna PM me a link to their site I can look to see if I can tell if it uses a CMS other than WP

How you build SEO on a wordpress site is how you build SEO on a non-wordpress site.
All the very fundamental of SEO on-site & off-site, go read it up.

You need not be an expert coder to understand it.
