Hey Folks,

My apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum but I have been a long-time reader, but have never really acted on any of the good content that I have read here in these forums. I have purchased and read countless products on SEO (Bring the Fresh, Google Sniper 1&2, OMG Machines, etc... - just to name a few...) with all of the current mods that Google has made to their algorithms. To be frank, it's quite unnerving to even know where to begin. I have purchased about 15 domains over a few years with the intent of starting some small review / blog and catalog-style sites, but have never quite made the "leap".

I would like to request some direction from some of the talented members I've seen here on the forums. Can any of you suggest an accurate, current and detailed guide on getting a sales-oriented site off the ground focusing initially with on-page SEO - primarily using a Wordpress-based site? I am adept at managing forums in general and creating my own codebase, if necessary - as well as being proficient in designing and properly indexing / optimizing my own databases. I have a good knowledge in graphic design as well, so my only real handicap is getting a site off the ground and prepped for optimization from one of the paid services I see here. Also, any suggestions on how to get started becoming a reseller for multiple companies in a particular industry would be most welcome.

As I haven't actually made (read any...) many posts on these forums, I doubt that I am able to PM anyone, but if you prefer email, my info is in my profile.

Thanks, in advance!

$850.00 and i'll help with a consultation.

Why is that your handicap? You seem to know how to build and launch a web site so what's stopping you? The best guide is your brain, and the information you can get for free here. My success came after a year of working 60 hours a week with $0. I read so many fancy ebooks, but if I didn't think for myself and take my own risks I never would have made a cent. The question isn't how to do it, the question is how badly do you want it.

Remember that old saying where the guru holds his apprentices head under the water as he's learning martial arts and when his pulls him to the surface he says something along the lines of, "When you want to be a martial artist as much as you wanted to take your next breath under the water that's when you will succeed."

Do it the wrong way if you have to, it's better than nothing at all.

The best way is do a job under an expert ,may be or must be
in your local area .
Another option is get training on online or local institution.

Matrices,

I would start by finding some keywords you want to target and write good content that will be useful and informative. Once you have those two things squared away start using some of the techniques you have read about.

Here is another good resource,

Keep in mind that SEO is an ongoing and somewhat experimental process. Even those who are experienced with its practice find that they need to implement, observe and change what they are doing all the time. If you just wait to find the perfect process, you will go nowhere.

Hopefully that helps you,
Shawn

I appreciate the encouragement! I guess it comes close to being one of those "fear of success" type things. I'm thinking I might need to look for a mentor to give me some direction on just getting started. I find that I tend to learn very well by watching, and then engineering what I've seen to fit my own personal style. I appreciate the suggested article - it's a great source for those that need to know what SEO is, and why it is necessary in order to gain visibility for your site. I'm needing some direction focused more on on-page SEO, and how / where / when to implement. Again, thanks much for the input - it is definitely most appreciated! If anyone has any additional suggestions, please feel free!

On-Page seo is about facts not about seo, get my drift. The more facts you have associated with the correct html elements the better seo you will achieve. imo never use inline style. I would reccomend a mix between CSS2-3 and HTML4-5. Dont get slopy with it. http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/on-page-factors

Just spend a lot of time on one domain.

Stop giving up and making new ones.

Literally any niche is profitable.
