I have bought many services and products from The Marketplace, overall I am happy with what I have received.

The majority of Sellers are honest and provide a good service.

Unfortunately the few that aren't, are starting to have a negative impact on BHW.
This is especially true in the link building section.
SEO - Link building http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/f43-seo-link-building/

For a very small investment ANYBODY (qualified and experienced or not) can start a Sales Thread and make any outlandish claims they like.
What invariably happens, is that a Mod will be provided with a top quality professional service for free and will then approve the thread.
For the unscrupulous Sellers, they then proceed to provide the rest of us with a less than satisfactory service.

I realise that the Mods are very busy but if we want this section to be considered a legitimate trustworthy business services section then we need to ensure that providers provide everything they claim.

My suggestion would be to increase the cost of starting a thread to a minimum of double the cost of the most expensive service on offer.
For example if I offer $500 link sales then to start my thread I have to pay $1000, if I offer $100 link building packages then I would pay $200.
The current charge for starting a BST can be kept for any services offered for under $50 or raised to a minimum of $50. This should not be a barrier to anybody who is genuine.
Then the Mods can receive the most expensive service for free and then they should have to provide a detailed report on the results they received from each service on completion. This should include a detailed ranking report every time.

They would then use 50% of the Sales Thread charge to use dummy/mystery shopper accounts (under Jr.VIP level) to make sure the rest of us are receiving the same service. If Mods are too busy then this could be delegated to the Jr. Executive VIP level.
This should be done annually to maintain quality.

It might also be worthwhile to get rid of ALL free review copies, as what always happens is that people don't give negative reviews to freebies.

I realise that some Sellers won't be happy with my suggestion.
That is fine, it is only an idea but rather than be upset and negative I would encourage them to provide suggestions on how to make that section better and safer.

I hope the above makes sense, it might not as I am a little tired this morning.

if a service not works then , you will know about it after checking some first pages.

don't think that i increased price will help.

there will be maybe providers which are good that don't pay that amount and the guys which know how to play and make big money here don't care anyway.

while i agree with some of what you say i think that kind of costing would put off a lot of sellers who are actually offering a quality service, i mean $1000 would be probably be better spent on cpc ads or something.

don't know abt price but, i found some sellers providing their best service durring review time and after that they don't provide as good service as before.

Increasing the price wont help the cause as it will have reverse effect on the market place.just look at the Wickedfire for instance & how it died down for last few months.

Yeah increasing the price doesn't sound right, especially because on some services such as those that involve article creation one may spend hours on Unique Quality perfect content and the reason they raise the price of their service is so they are properly paid for amount of time from their work. Meaning they are not profiting a ton of money especially to pay for a really high market value.

What we could do is require every service to be approved by two mods and make it harder for services to get approved meaning they give us the highest of quality in their services and provide every claim they make.

That might work but what is likely to happen is that 2 Mods will get a good service and then approve the thread and then it will be the same again.

That's why I think the minimum cost to start a BST should be at least the price of the most expensive service on offer in the thread,

Instead of providing the service to a Mod for free, the Mod would then use that money to PURCHASE the service and use a fake identity/dummy account to test it out.

Alternatively we might need to look at what guarantees and refund policies that the BST Sellers offer.

Just an idea.

Most of the sellers are great but something needs to be done about the others.

Just out of interest - Has anybody ever had a BST refused or turned down?

Wouldn't normally happen. You just gotta complete your review order to the mod and it will be accepted. They don't turn down.

As a guy who has truck loads of infractions, I wouldn't usually know but I partnered up with another member for a BST before. So thats where I get my info.

Perfect example:

http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/seo-link-building/632583-pr5-pr8-backlinks-approved-google-penguin-hummingbird-money-back-guarantee-2.html#post6373521

I normally don't like to stir the pot, but for sh#t sake...saying it is "approved by Google Penguin and Hummingbird" is complete crap. Now, most BHW people can probably (hopefully) see through the bs - but this site receives so much traffic...and sales threads get a lot of business from people who are not members here. So, someone new may say "Wow, I found something that Google approved" and buy it - and then butt fu#k their site. Not cool.

GUARANTEE Matt and the Google crew had a good laugh at that title...and still are.

W310SN - I appreciate your opinion and your post but I think times like this we are seeking perfection in a
market where perfection should not be expected. Anytime you pay for an intangible service or tangible item
partially for that matter you are taking a chance.

The job of the rules and Moderators is to limit that risk as much as possible without closing the door of
prosperity and innovation. So what if one person buys a link service and its not to their expectations. You know
how many times I bought a pair of shoes in Wal Mart and the glue came apart in one week? Plenty. And I
returned the item to Wal Mart and never bought that shoe again.

As long as the services stick to their original refund policy then let the market naturally clean itself. People
with good services will get more orders and stay to the front of the page and have the best reviews. Others
who are shitty salesman will gently slide away. Over regulating a market stifles creativity and the economic
ladder to prosperity.

How many people from developing countries or even developed countries could provide a top notch service
but could not pay double the price of their largest service package? Tons. And you can see examples already
on the BST.

Should the price be raised from $30? Yes! I agree I am thinking like $50 myself.

My 2 cents :)

Totally agree with this OP. As netmoney1 pointed out too and which I've been saying for a long time some of the claims written with in bsts now are just flat out lies, there needs to be stricter rules brought in and a serious price increase would be a good thing to, I mean sellers here have access to the biggest market place on the planet, the price could reflect that better imo.

There are some amazing sellers on this forum seriously we have the best market place for SEO in the world and a good team of moderators that run it, its a shame that its starting to become crowded with crap and bullshit claims. I've always been of the mind that its best to be up front with clients from the off otherwise it just creates problems on down the road! But I see lies and sellers saying yes yes yes to anything just to get a sale, next thing you know shit hits the fan... we've all seen it.

I get your point about the free market too madstacks, that's all well and good yeah the free market is a good thing, but bsts with lies in them that clients then buy thinking they are safe or approved (like netmoney pointed out) or some other completely obvious lies then thats a no go in my opinion.

I hope some changes are brought in soon, the moderaters here do a bang up job which must be seriously mind numbing at times, I think changes like mentioned in this thread would lighten their work load in the long run as they won't have to deal with shit lists and arguments when clients of bsts start complaining.

@Tommy - I looked over that BST Netmoney1 pointed out and I think any thread like this that is intentionally
deceptive should just be removed or edited to what is really is. Any deceptive thread is a lot like really selling
snake oil as matt cutts refers to constantly.

I see your complaint that many lurkers here would put money into deceptive services because of the title
when actually the money should go to legit sellers like yourself and the client will actually receive what was
described. I am a free market fundamentalist but in every market their are rules for a fair playing field.

However, I still do not believe raising the entry fee sky high is somehow going to make people develop
ethical business practices. And a blanket solution like this would just target a class that cannot afford
to do better. And we both know people are generally full of shit no matter if they have $1000 to invest
or $20.

How about implementing a quality seller rating like eBay. What I mean is basically force the use of the itrader
and if someone drops below a certain seller feedback number (85% or something) they lose seller privileges.

But yeah Tommy I know the frustration and it would be nice to find a solution.
