Is there a tool that's free that I can use before I post an article? This way I can get everything the way I'd like it before I put it out on the web.

I can recommend SeoQuake as well, its a FF plugin, although there are also nice WP plugins out there that can be used as well, e.g. SEOPressor 5 !

But stick to SeoQuake if you want a free solution, SeoQuake is also containing a really nice SEO toolbar, with lots of handy stats and metrics like index count, BL count, PR, alexa ranking, and lots of other things

add Yoast for wordpress. That is one of the best universal WP plugins.

The yoast plugin will only give you the keyword density of the article and not the whole page.
