SEO Journey - Nothing to.... Let's See.

Hi All,

I wanted to start a My Journey Discussion to track how I do and also share exactly my process and if I use suppliers on this forum - who and how successful has it been.

To clarify, at the time of writing this thread I am 16 days into this project (starting from scratch). I will include every single cost, and also income (when this starts to happen).

I am based in the UK but will translate costs and income into USD for everyone on here, as it seems to be the main currency used.

Included are some images from SEMRush and Majestic on Day 1 - I will update these every month so everyone can see visible progress.




As you can see here, no data, as expected on Day 1 of purchasing the domain.

Setup:

1. Domain name purchased - 5th April 2017 - $29
2. Wordpress Theme - Free

Getting Site Ready

1. Content - from PeoplePerHour, as I required a specialist within the sector I am targeting which a content writer on here could not provide. In total this has cost $101 for 6 pages of good quality content
2. Affiliate Banners - registered with affiliates relevant to the industry and will be the only income stream. High payouts and recurring income monthly.

Link Building

1. Guest Blog Post (PeoplePerHour): $32
2. SHERLOCK HACKS GOOGLE V8 (sarkark21): $84

So, 16 days and that is simple as I have done so far.

Moving forwards, as the content has only just been uploaded in the last couple of days and the link building by sarark21 has just been delivered (yesterday) I am now going to allow 10-14 days for Google to index the site fully and for a very small aging process. I will then assess where the site is at in terms of SEMRush, Majestic, Serpbook, Search Console, Indexing, etc. I will then post my next plan of action as soon as I can see some indexing and visibility to make a decision on.

I will update the project at least every fortnight, and hope to do a lot more regularly if people would like to interact and also have some discussions on strategies for brand new domains (as I love projects like this). Happy to Skype or PM also.

Not the best stats, but, the site generates a lot of traffic as the social profiles are quite big. The niche of the site is also ultra relevant for us and a hard niche to get links in.

1. Is this your first ever IM venture? If not what lessons did you find valuable in previous projects?
2. Any tips on buying domains?

by the way, why is your domain a bit expensive? did you register it for multiple years?

1) I have been in the digital industry for about 5 years, but never really worked on personal projects of my own. This is my first serious personal project.
2) Probably not the best person to ask on that, I bought this domain as brand new.

Registered for multiple years correct.

Since last update (during May) I have undertaken the following activities.

· Social Signals purchased to several Inner Pages
· Aged Domain Backlink purchased x 2
· 50 High Trust Flow Blog Comments to Inner Page
· Social Signals purchased to Above Inner Page (make above 50 comments look more natural)
· PBN bought to Home Page and 1 x Inner Page

Starting to build some nice stats...




I have another volume of links now to get to Page 1, I can see this from Ahrefs. I now need to focus on some BIG JUICY LINKS (heavy hitters). I will be spending a lot more time acquiring a couple of high DA's (60+) in order to push me on to Page 1.

My target keywords are now sitting between Position 26 to Position 65. Not bad for 2 months work with very little investment.
