SEO Journal/Case Study

Dude, you rock! This is a really good read: short and concise. As looking at your efforts this is probably one of these extremely hard to target KWs....I think either something in finance or dating (which are also the markets I am in, though only in my small country). I cant add up to our info but I can learn a lot from reading this.

Good info thanks.

Yes TTravis does the same to me.. Gives my sites an X on the Title, Desc, and sometimes H1 tags when clearly I have these things programmed with my keywords. Oh well. Keep up the good work!

Great work. One thing I am wondering about though:
In your TT Screenshot there is a Website ranking above you with less bl and blp at #13. Did you analyze that website to see what's it doing better in terms of SEO?

First of all I have to say great job I mean really you did a lot of work on this website and the results really do say a lot about ranking.
I honsestly think you should stop building nodes and more web 2.0 and start backlinkg your main site with high PR do----follow and do heavy backlink blasts to the tier 1 and 2.
Forghet about the RSS submitions because at the lvl you are right now it wont make much of a difrence.
Do forum profile blasts to your main site across pages, blast the hell out of the tier 2 hundreds for each.
Try geting SB lists from here, dont advice you to go on other sites because I can see a clear difrence of quality
+rep and thanks given :)

WOW, this is probably the best Jouranl thread I have come across in recent times. I will say it looks like you have done a-hell-lot of work to get to where you are, however 165 to 15 is nothing to be laughed at.

Looking forward to your next post. Will Rep + Thanks.

what's on your money site currently? would this strategy work for a non-cpa site?

Top 10 yet? :-)
Did you use exact search keyphrase + org as domain or there are some extra words / characters in the domain?

Thanks for this case study. It's great information. subscribed!

Thanks

Great info, subscribed :)

Hmm... I am looking into it right now.. Lets see.. Its a wordpress.com - half the keywords are on there.. posts dating back from June 2008. There are about 10 - 20 posts, but all of them look like unique content. Not too sure why its kicking by butt. My best guess is cause of the unique content part, but who knows.

Oh I am acutally doing it all. I am building nodes.... and I have been hittin ghte main site with HIGH PR do follow everything. I've done heavy promotion on the T1/T2. I really like the RSS feed submissions - I've personally found that they help to get alot of my stuff indexed from the get go. I am working on SB lists - I picked up an autoapprove lists and haven't used htem to blast yet, but will shortly

Thanks - Yeah i've done alot of work, but now im sitting at 20. But i know personally that I haven't worked very hard on backlinking for the last week (other business commitments)

what's on your money site currently? would this strategy work for a non-cpa site?

Money site is nothing right now.. just an optin. This strategy can work for ANY site out there. You can monetize it any way you'd like. Once you have traffic you can do anythign with it.

Top 10 yet? :-)
Did you use exact search keyphrase + org as domain or there are some extra words / characters in the domain?

Not quite, I acutally lost ranking.. at 20 now, but i know its cause I've been putting less effort in for the last week. I am ExactSearch.org - there is nothing else or any extra words in the domain.

Current Rank/Indexing

Week
  • I haven't been utilizing my tools as much as I should have, but I've ventured out into another area that has taken up some time. But, now that i'm done with that, I can now concentrate on this domain again.
  • SA - I created 20 Campaigns spread over 12 articles (roughly about 1000 word articles - all spun mashed together). I have them scheduled to complete within a week and have each campaign run every saturday/wednesday (which is roughly about 3/4 days apart from when they start). This covers about a couple months of web 2.0 consistent building. Everything is setup just like the link diagram image i showed in an earlier thread.
  • SB - I have an autoapprove list which i'll blast to the new web 2.0 websites.
  • SB - I talked about a news site back in another post which I then grabbed the URL of again. I scraped the entire site and put it through the blog analyzer. Checked its PR and sorted it for anything higher than a PR 1. I am now currently MANUALLY posting to this one particular site. News sites are great because they are highly moderated - but with their authority - comes high PR blog comment pages. I found a good 20-30 of these links that are worth a million as there is a very LOW OBL (Outbound links)
  • RSS - Will start submitting these shortly as I get a fresh list of RSS feeds
  • SS - Been buliding profile backlinks to my main site (High PR) and pinging them. I did a blast of 20 or so today.
  • BL - Been buliding backlinks to the T1/T2 of various groups. Have been drip feeding some linsk to the money site. These links are very spammy - so I only do this is small variations. These sites are basically a good way to get ALOT of links out there
  • Created a new local site that i'll be working on
  • My other business venture was through Fiverr. I noticed after doing some small SEO jobs here and there - I found that people were really liking my gigs. The gig had to do with SA - but just a very small version of my diagram that I have there. Those people who used my gigs wanted more and so I recommended them to do SEO outside and hence I got a SEO service website going to make sure that my SA is used to its max.
  • The plan is to sit down and look at all my links again. I have to see what has been indexed and what hasn't been indexed. I just have too many links in a notepad +++ file that its actually hard to tell what is what. The most important links to me are the T1 Links so I must try to get those indexed by any means... RSS FEEDS, Pinging, linklicious, BE, or any other services or blasting I can think of.
  • I'll be grabbing AMR in the next day or so. Well the trial version that is to see what it can really offer me. As soon as I got that I'll start scheduled submissions to my money site. I'm thinking at this point, I should be blasting about 20-50 article directories out a day. I don't want to overdo it especially with the other links out there and i'm not too sure how quickly those will index, but I don't want a huge boat load of links coming to the main site all at once.
  • I'm looking into other type sof links such as video marketing, mainstream article directories, mainstream social bookmarks, document sites.
  • SS - I plan to blast with articledashboard too and check out their feature.

Thank you for your responce, great to hear a confirmation that rss feed submition is working.
I think you should focus on building backlinks to the web 2.0 using SB because you need more juice to this platforms. I mean there are more there then google can index in the next week.
What kind of backlinks does the backlinker build?
This is very interesting, will keep an eye on this!

There a bunch of blat forms such as vbulletin, wordpress, guestbooks, image boards, event calendars, etc. Those types of links. I've probably built 1000's of links to my tier 1/2 websites. Im thinking they are probably in the 10,000's now considering i've done large autoapprove SB blasts of 10+.

Today
  • AMR - Picked up the trial for this. I downloaded this before on my main desktop, but didn't really like the user interface and so I just figured the quality of it wasn't great. But after reading a few reviews here and there, I gave it another shot on my dedicated server. After activating it, I spend half an hour, created an account, created a spun article, filled in the author, summary, body, keywords, categories (copied straight from ezine articles - the more the better i found). Sorted by PR (1+) - as i only had a 5 day trail i wanted to make sure I get the most for my money. Ended up with about 200 article directories. Out of these 200 article directories, I was left with about 175 SUCCESSFUL account creations which I am very impressed with. I was anticipating a much lower success rate then that. Anywho, I scheduled 20 submissions over the next 5 days and just minimized it on my dedicated server. But before that it posted the first 20 - which only 5 were successful.. but this was my mistake. I didn't read the instructions and i put HTML into the body (which was then the reason why it was rejected to 10 of those sites). The other rejections were category mess ups. So I went back into the article moved the HTML to the resource box and added more categories. I'm anticipating pretty close to 90% submission rate. The one thing i really like about this software has to how there is a database and how it informs you if it posts or not. Anyways, I don't know if im limited in the free trial or not, but from what I can see it looks pretty good. One thing i noticed is the "Import Site List" which im assuming is a way you can add your own article directory websites which makes the software even more powerful. THis works similar to SS where you can scape your own URLS and add them in. If thats the case, this makes it a really powerful tool. This really seems quite accurate in terms of its execution. If this submits my 100 or 80 pretty good, then i'll most likely grab a copy of this as it'll really help.
  • SS - Built about 20~ or so high PR forum profile back links. I sent them through the pinger. I never really realized this but none of my profile links that I built through SS directly to the MS have been seen by YSE. This means they are most likely not indexed which seems to be the "problem" that i've read across the forum. I'll take this to the next level and grab all the profile links i've built so far in the URL MANAGER and turn it into an RSS feed and submit that. Lets see how well this does.
  • High PR Blog Commenting - I plan to go submit 10 blog comments at that news site manually after this post
  • BL - Blasted a few to the MS - the rest to the new site of T1/T2
  • SA - They updated the program and added in the ability to add your own email accounts - which is a great add on since alot of my tasks have been stuck with yahoo accounts. Another thing I realize is that the large diagrams im buliding are randomized with the same 30 or web 2.0 websites. I think its time to bring out Senuke and start blasting a few of these there to mix it all up.
  • RSS - Submitted another 20 through it. Will do another tomorrow morning

I think thats about it for today....nothing new.. just ogtta get my links recognized.

Oh crap.... Started to play around with AMR. Started to look at the scheduler and saw.... "finalize submission". Okay I never really thought about what it did, so I just clicked it and there it went.... submitted (or tried to submit the 150 articles - High PR). And well... it wouldn't let me stop it from submitting.. So now I have a total of 108 Submitted articles... lesson learned... But who knows this could have POSITIVE impacts... or negative.. im sure it'll be okay since its only 100 submissions. I'll just wont submit any more of these articles until the last day and i'll submit 20-30... lol we'll see what happens haha

AMR - One last post regarding AMR so I can document the index rate and submissions. Out of 100 submitted articles - I learned how to run the live links report and found out that 38 of them have been successfully posted. Out of these 38, 1 has already been indexed by google. I will put these 38 through SS pinger and see what happens tomorrow. If these are good standing article links, i'll start to build backlinks around these article links - which will give me a stronger backbone.

I've been sitting here and thinking... trying to figure out why with all my efforts - why aren't they paying off the way I want them too. It seems like i'm stuck at this 15-20 ranking and it's not doing much. So then i started researching and I noticed something important. I'm not too sure if this is the reason why, but I do find it very odd. I'll use another keyword phrase to explain what I've found:

So if you search up:
"best way to lose weight fast"

80165199.jpg

From this, I searched up the 4th link there with 150 backlinks to it and then i searched up the following in YSE:

78036964.jpg

23419000.jpg

The first one is with the www. and the second one doesnt have the "www.". This seems pretty obvious, but in the first picture, you'll notice there are many domains on there that are EITHER ranking for their "www." or without the "www.".

------------
Now onto my domain.... I honestly do not know if this is a huge factor or not, but it really did bother me when i discovered the difference.

my domain is ranking for the following:

DOMAIN.org ... so in this case there is NO "www." attached to it. This is the exact domain that is ranking number 17 as of right now. Now that I look at YSE...there is 7 BACKLINKS that are pointing to DOMAIN.org (and these links are mostly from my SA links. I found it really odd that none of my SA links showed up when i did my usual search in YSE and searched for "www.DOMAIN.org". This explains why in Traffic travis in the seo analysis section why my site only had 7 BACKLINKS... cause thats how many there acutally were! I have 70~ backlinks pointed to "www.DOMAIN.org" but my website is not even ranking for that URL.

Again this is all speculation, but from every website i've pulled and did this quick search, i've found that the one that is ranking in google are the ones with the BACKLINKS. When you check the other side to it, there is little to no backlinks pointed to it.

Bascially, what this means is that I have to go into all my backlinking software and change my target URLS from "www.DOMAIN.org" to "DOMAIN.org"

If you have any information on this, i'd really be glad to hear it. From this logic, to me it seems that my DOMAIN strength is getting stronger, but not the actualy "page" even though it is still the domain, i'm thinking that google sees "www." vs no "www." as a different page.

What do you think?

people dont actually search for site witout the www. so I dont see why google will rank your site like that.
I did a couple of google searches on hard to rank for keywords and noticed that there is a mixture of www. sites and no www. sites so google rank both of them quite the same.
I`ve seen www first folowed by no www and the other way around. There might be something here but I dont think google ranks diffrent this kind of sites.
Try a mixture of www and no www and see what happens.
I am very curious to see what this article marketing tehnique will do to your site.
Are you getting any trafic so far to your site?

yes it does

Code:
www.domain.com
domain.com
www.domain.com/
domain.com/

These are all different urls , make sure you are linking to the same that is ranking @ 17

give a 301 to others, atleast something is better than nothing

Traffic is minimal. It was averaging 5 a day and now its about 10 - 15. But, I don't pay too much attention to it right now. They are a mixture of "www" and non "www" - so there must be something to it. The ones that are ranking are the ones with the banklinks. I don't see it any other way.

In terms of the ARM blast. There are now 3 out of 38 that are indexed. So far its looking pretty good. I'll check how many of them got approved a little later

Yeah, I went ahead and checked my site to see what the default redirect was at and its set to non "www". I just put a 301 on the others so hopefully that does something... I never knew about the "/" at the end hmm interesting. I don't know how i overlooked this. oh well lesson learned. Thanks alot

nice work here, keep us updated :)

No Problem

The way I learned it is that www . domain.com and domain.com are not the same - so redirect one to the other and set the preferred domain in GWT. I would probably go with domain.com because it is shorter, and redirect the other domain to it. Google does see both variations as two different domains until you do a 301 and tell google which one you prefer.

But domain.com and domain.com/ are the same, as far as I know. If you check GWT, there is an option to tell google that with and without www are the same domain, and what domain google should use, but there is no distinction between with and without / so I am pretty sure it makes no difference. From an IT view it does not make any sense too, since the www. technically is a subdomain, but with or without /, its still the same domain, and still the root of the domain.

EDIT: redirect domain.com to www . domain.com, and set www . domain.com as your preferred url in GWT, since www . domain.com is the one with more bl to it.
