SEO Journal/Case Study

Siek thx for your time and effort explaining all the little details. I really love how you structure and organize your posts. Keep them comming! You have one fan more :)

In one of the above posts you said that your main keyword is 6 words long. I didn't even imagine that such a long keyword is pretty hard to rank. I mean I watched many of those WSO videos and they explain how they have almost no backlinks and easily rank on first page because of long tail...

One additional thing... Why don't you try some link wheels with some of properties on tier 2 linking to tier 1 and see if this helps your ranking?

Yes i see now...thanks a lot for the helpful response! I look forward to following your thread and taking notes....Good luck!

Thanks!

Well the niche im in is pretty competitive. You just gotta really do your research and you'll find those good keywords. I don't necessarily think its that hard to rank... but more because i started so late and this journal is far from old and im moving quite fast in my opinion.

I will be putting in some link wheels and other structures soon. I just haven't gotten to it yet. But I would never make my entire structure a whole link wheel. Im more of a random tiers structure. What made link wheels so ineffective is the large foot print it left. Having everything random is pretty hard to leave a foot print.

Current Rank/Indexing
  • Main Keyword: 39
  • Secondary Keyword: 26
  • Look at that! I jumped almost 50 spots from 90~ to 40. This is getting really interesting now. I checked YSE and i have 31 links in there compared to the 11 that was there originally. I am almost positive that over the weekend many of my links got picked up and thats why the change in ranking happened.
  • I don't have much of an update cause I didn't have internet for the last couple days and I haven't done anything today. I will most likely pick this all up tomorrow.
  • 38 more spots to go :)

Will update probably tomorrow.

I like the sound of 39 better. Yeah, this just turned into a thriller. Best thread I've read in many a moon.

Awesome Journal. keep it going!

Thanks.

Lol - It'll only get better from here on out

Current Rank/Indexing
  • Main Keyword: 40
  • Secondary Keyword: 34
  • Group 1 Indexed - Tier 1: 16 / 23
  • Group 1 Indexed - Tier 2: 77 / 529

SEO Link Building and Associated Software
  • I got a PM about a guy asking me what software works with what link building technique. I thought i'd just make a quick list of what I have and what type of links it builds too.
  • SS - Forum Profiles, RSS (Don't use this - I use RSSsubmit), Directory Submitter, Article Submitter (Article Directories - not the mainstream articles like ezine), Bookmark submitter (not the mainstream ones... more shuttle and pligg)
  • RSS - 97 RSS aggregates
  • SB - Blog Commenting
  • SA - Web 2.0s
  • SeNuke - Web 2.0s, videos, bookmark, profiles.... i don't really use senuke too much since I really like what SA has to offer. SeNuke hits different websites though so every once in a while i'll do a run using that.
  • BL - These are links for several different platforms such as wordpress etc etc.
  • As you can see.. i have a pretty good mix of links.. I could go into some .edu links or some high PR forum posts. Maybe some xrumer links, but all that will come with time. Im thinking i will probably outsource those types of links as I already have a handful with all these tools consistently building me links to my tiers. Those fiver gigs have come in handy as it started to build up a balance on that account which I can then turn around and buy some xrumer links etc.

Today
  • SS - Submitted 1500 Directories to T1 & T2 - Currently running. Lots of timeouts so I don't expect much success (bad proxies). One drawback to SS is the lack of private proxy capabilities...unless I just don't know how to use that yet. Will check the forum for this.
  • BL - Built around 3K on my Dedi while I didnt have any internet
  • RSS - Submitted (100) - Left on Dedi
  • SA - Indexing Case Study will start REAL soon. I got all the links built for that one campaign.
  • SA - The other half campaign I built is also 95% completed and will start submitting those RSS feeds and building a third tier to those.
  • SA - Need to build a link structure around my secondary keyword URL
  • SS - This software has article directories which i'm going to take advantage of as well as a forum profile creator. Been thinking of creating my own lists since they have that "learning" module. That could come in handy in the future for when I find a platform with high PRs which ill eventually scrape using Scapebox.
  • SS - Bookmarked around 100 URLS to T1 and T2
  • With so many links pointing to my first and second tier websites - I can't even keep track of what I have linking to those anymore. So I will most likely not even try since they are coming from so many different platforms its so hard to consolidate them all into one text file. But who knows, maybe i'll find them later and put them all in one text file. By the way I don't use notepad...a good alternative that i've found recently is NotePad++ which is excellent for moving large link lists around.

Offer
  • I just wanted to say that my offer for spun articles for a SA blast is still open and willing to trade
  • If you want me to do some tests on some SEO things you had in mind but didn't have the resources to do so... let me know.. it'll definitely get the juices running

Current Rank/Indexing
  • Main Keyword: 42
  • Secondary Keyword: 27
  • Not much change or jump. The rank is not steady though, it keeps jumping up and down from 40 give or take 10. The lowest I've seen it go is 21.

Today
  • SS - Spent alot of the day trying to play with this program. Its not as powerful as I thought it was going to be. The lists provided on their forums - most have alot of dead links. Another thing that I messed up one was trying to use my private proxies - SS does not support these very well and their proxy management is just not that great (comparing to SB). So its best to use public proxies - which i just grabbed from SB. Their strongest feature is the profile submitter. They release a monthly high PR profile links list. Keep in mind these are DOMAIN PR not URL (obviously since they are not created yet).
  • SA - Created a couple diagrams for some clients (they are pretty small). These clients actually came from Fivver and am now doing some side SEO jobs (charging alot more than $5 now). This fivver balance will come in handy for xrumer links. Or if I don't ever get to them.. i may just cash it out and it'll help pay for these monthly tools.
  • SA - Built a Ezine diagram scheduled to complete in a week. I did this a couple days ago and it should be done pretty shortly.
  • BL - Continuously building links
  • SS - While playing with this, I've created several profile links and bookmark links. I tried the article submitter - but I couldn't get it to work as well as I wanted too... Drained so much Captcha credits for nothing. That was a definite lost cause. I do like the ability to use your own platforms though - this should come in handy when im looking more into the templates and scripts they have. Only SS users will know what im talking about right now.
  • Article Scraper - I found an article scraper here on BHW which scrapped me a nice 800 articles in notepad form in a folder. I coded a VERY QUICK program that grabs 2-5 articles from the folder and combines them into one text file. (saves me quite a bit of time..). I then take these large mashed up articles and put them through SA. Or thats the plan anyways...
  • RSS - Finished my Tier 1 / 2 RSS Feeds

Case Study
  • All the links are done and are now sitting in the URL report. I haven't had any time yet to separate them in groups and check for whether some of them have already been indexed or not. Will set this up soon.

great journal - keep posting.

I noticed you use SERPASSIST ... im in the process of using either
- SERPASSIST
- se nuke
- magic submitter
Have you tried all 3? what are your thoughts on them all?

and out of all of the different techniques you use, what do you beleive has the BEST results?

great post... got some new points to work on now...
you are targeting keyword which is having 17000 exact search!! and you're on 5th page in Google just in 20 days!!! great!!...

will follow you now.. :)

I haven't tried magic submitter before - but from what i see it looks very similar to senuke. Although SA has different web 2.0s as senuke (there are a couple similar ones) - they are still very different. Senuke has more capabilities in terms of what it can post to. You have more flexibility in terms of bookmarking and what not. The great thing about SA that I love is the fact that once you create your "initial" diagram - all you have to do is load in your new articles and schedule it for say a months time. If i have the articles in hand, I can probably do this in 10 min and it can build me 1000's of sites flowing all back to my money site. This is what sold me to SA as opposed to senuke. As for results - of course its SA, but thats probably because I use it alot more than senuke. Its more of a preference i guess - but both these tools are pretty good.

The only disadvantage I can see is the limit on accounts you can create on SA. But, i've talked to the owner and I may be getting this increased for a charge so I can upscale my campaigns.

Did i say it rceived 17,000 exact searches? I don't remember that - if i did then my bad. I just checked it just now and its 8,100 exact searches. But i'm sure i'll get alot more than that as soon as i start deeplinking in there. I have a huge deeplinking plan in mind :)

Keep posting. This is good stuff.

Thanks

Current Rank/Indexing
  • Main Keyword: 35
  • Secondary Keyword: 30
  • This ranking of 35 is different from what i'm use to. Usually when I check my rank several times within 10 min - the site fluctuates give or take 10 spots. But this particular ranking at 35 has been stuck there for a good couple hours. Not too sure what this means, but its good to note this.
  • YSE at the moment has shown my web 2.0's (tier 1) just a couiple of them as well as many of my BL links.

Index Case Study
  • Just to do a quick recap on this case study. I have two tiers which total 332 NON INDEXED (checked google prior to this post) and spit them up into 4 groups.
  • I will begin this probably starting tomorrow. I just randomized my lists and have them ready to be indexed :)
  • 1) Scrapebox Autoapprove Link Spam - I have 10,000 blogs ready for this. Which i'll blast over a span a week. Maybe 2,000~ a day.
  • 2) linklicious + Ping + Social bookmark created RSS feeds as they are created in a span of a week
  • 3) links2rss.com + ping + social bookmark
  • 4) Backlink Energizer posting in a span of a week + Backlinking the actual web 2.0 properties that BE uses

Today
  • SA - Didn't do much today in SA other than finish up some of my fiver gigs as well as stripped all the URLS for the index case study. With scraping all those articles, and mashing them up, i now have a arsenal of articles that I can easily spin and blast out to my money page. I plan to create a new campaign every 3-5 days and schedule them for a month. I need to do some research on the deeplinks and what keywords are ranking for those deeplinks so i can get some blasts out for them.
  • BL - Been running... 1000 links built from what I last seen to tier 1/2 of group 1. I did blast 20 links to the money page the other day. The one thing i noticed when i looked at YSE was that they were indexing my BL links almost the same day or the next day after posting. That was pretty powerful. I will be blasting a random number to the money site from time to time. No schedule - just whether i remember to or not lol
  • SS - Although I've been having alot of problems with it lately, I have grown to really like this tool alot. After you look past all the sites and lists you get originally with the software and you create your own lists - this is where all the software is worth the money. After figuring out what a template was and how to build lists based on this, I can really target just about any platform out there. A template in SS is like a learning module where it can post for you after you teach it how to register/post/etc to that platform. A platform is like the types of forums, blogs, etc. For instance, for blogs we have movable blog types and wordpress blogs (all scrapebox). Anyways, I figured I would need some EDU links and I think i've found a good way to get some of these on my own.
  • I downloaded a template from the SS forums for SMF. I then jumped onto google and started thinking of some footprints I could enter in. I searched up SMF and looked at some forums. I then found the footprint....."Powered by SMF". In google i typed in

    Code:
    site:edu "powered by SMF" inurl:"?action"

I took that footprint and put it into SB's custom footprint feature. Added around 2000 random keywords and scraped from all engines. I ended up with a rather large list which I then removed DOMAINS. I removed domains because these links are PROFILE EDU links. Meaning having profiles from the same EDU won't really mean much to me. I reduced the number of sites tremendously. Checked the PR of it and to my surprise the lowest PR was a PR2 :) I will be putting this through SS soon to test it out. I am trying to read the coding they have on that template and adjust it if i need to.
  • Thats about it for today... will probably setup campaign in SA and schedule to have it complete within a month

Current Rank/Indexing
  • Main Keyword: 23 - 22 SPOTS LEFT!
  • Secondary Keyword: 24
  • My main keyword has moved up another 10 spots! The lowest i've seen it was at 21 - but just like the 35 where it stayed at the position for sometime, this ranking is consistent at 23 give or take 1 or 2 positions.
  • YSE: 51~

Index Case Study
  • Left the city for the weekend. Have yet to start on this. Might find time for tomorrow

Today
  • Just got back today - haven't done anything.
  • SA - Scheduled a blast to a deep linked page. I used the articles scraper found on this forum and used 9 articles to create 3 articles (3 mashed up articles into 1). Had it scheduled to complete within a week. Every 3 days - i'l build a new one of these to a different target page and have them schedule for a week. After I have many of these requests overlapping one another, i'll then start scheduling them for a monthly basis.
  • BL - Building as usual

Keep up the good work mate!
I really enjoy this thread. Seen any earnings yet?

Thanks. The monetization is going to be a whole new thing. I haven't even thought about trying to capitalize on this right now. All i want to do is get the traffic and as soon as I do - I can make the sales. I'm aiming for a list building style - or I may just reroute everything to a CB product or something. I'll do split testing on this later to see what works best.

But as of today I think i have 10 or so optins so we'll have to see where this takes me.

First of all great journal bud, but I'm intrigued about the article grabber - If you mash 3 articles into one how do you go about spinning it? If the article grabber gets the content surely it's indexed by google. How's that working exactly?

I use TheBestSpinner. After putting all three articles together. Sometimes I just mix up paragraph by pargaph. Sometimes I mix up sentences. Other times I just place all 3 articles consecutively together. I put them through TheBestSpinner first using "Others favorites - Best". Then after that I use the Autosynonym feature Max 3. Most of it is not really readily, but its for sure unique. I try my best to make the first tier as readable as possible, but its still pretty bad in terms of readability lol. But, I don't care my main concern right now is to just get links coming in. Ill worry about unique good content later.

I read whole of this journal and it feels like that too much of hardwork was involved in bringing the website in second page. Is it because you are trying to SEO very fast than normal? or is it because the keyword is too competitive?

Thanks for sharing this information, brilliant posts so far with loads of detailed reports on how you push your backlinking methods.

Have subscribed and advise others who want better rankings to do so also, I learn more from people documenting their progress then simple eBooks which give step by step instructions.

Keep up the good work!
Gary
