Glad you posted that as I was looking at them.

Pricing is good but if they are always down it makes no sense.

I bought the 5 ip pack from Seo-Host last month. Of the five WP sites I put up, 2 remained up, 2 went up and down and finally stayed down, and the 5th was up about twice a day for 10 minutes each time.

Of the 2 sites that stayed up, one had an expired cpanel licence so I couldn't log in to the back end, only through the WP admin.

I raised tickets for both the cpanel licence issue and the unreliable hosting, neither of which have been answered yet (2 weeks later).

So, yeah, stay away from them.

I think I'm in a similar situation. what are the larger, more reputable hosts that allow multiple c-class ip addresses?

Webair has a SEO package under their dedicated server options that offers 66 IPs across 6 different C-classes. Very pricey though.

Stay away from

seo-host
cclassiphosting

Both of them the service seriously sucks.

It is too bad about seo-host because the have a very cool system where you can choose a very wide range of ip"s from multiple countries. They can not keep their servers up though and the support is horrible. While they respond to your tickets it is usually just a canned response that very clearly shows they did not even read the ticket.

I did not have any uptime problems with cclassiphosting but I had support tickets go days without a response. Really not sure what is up with that as I have never had a company just not answer support tickets like that before and not just one I had three open unanswered tickets when I moved my sites.

Good luck (so far) with
webhostingplex
ideastack

Most of my sites are with webhostingplex and I have not seen a problem with downtime and they actually answer the support tickets pretty quickly with an answer that does some good.

I just put 10 sites on ideastack to test them out and so far so good. The support responds quickly and again seems to know what they are doing. Has only been a couple of weeks so I have no long term knowledge of the uptime but so far so good.

I have the 10 ip pack at cclassiphosting. Frequent downtime. My sites are really just 'holding' sites so I can live with that. I tried to upgrade to the next pack and had an unbelieveable experience with support. I could not use any of the new ips due to a screw up in the setup and no one was able or willing to fix it, so I downgraded again.

When I closed my SEO-Host account I got another 15 ip pack at ixwebhosting. They give 15 seperate ips but generally they are clustered and you cannot set different nameservers. The trick with getting more diverse ips there is to only create one account every day or so. So far I have a nice spread with the first six sites I put up there. If you create a site and you don't like the ip assigned just delete it and wait a while.

I'm going to have a look now at IdeaStack and WebHostingPlex (thanks).

Wouldn't it be simpler just to do something useful for site promotions? Why too many people are so concerned about c class Ips? IMO, if you opt the right way of marketing, then you don't need to waste money c class Ips. In addition, search engine can use much more than just IP address to figure out which sites are owned by the similar person.
Actually, it's good if you have a dedicated IP address and you can also use that single dedicated IP for all your sites, so I think range of c class ips is not essential factor in SEO.

The reason people use different IP's is for their networks. If you put them all on the same IP they are not going to do you much good. You want a variety of IP's linking to your site. Having 50 high PR links coming to your money sites all from the same IP is gong to have a very limited benefit. This would be especially true if they were all on the same IP as your money sites.

Creating and using a network of sites is no different than any other link building activity. People create links to rank better in the search engines and this is just one more way to do that. I can control the content and how many OBL's are on my sites which I can not do when I link from a site that belongs to someone else so there are advantages.

Yes there are other ways to tell if sites are linked. That is why you use private registration, multiple registrars, private nameservers, and other measures to keep from leaving a footprint.

Generally no matter who you go with your IP's are clustered. That is why it is sad that seo-host sucks so bad. They have an awesome setup where you can choose nameservers from around the world. If they could just manage to keep their servers up and add some decent support they would be where I would keep all my network sites.

As far as private nameserves you should be able to set that up anytime you have a dedicated IP. You setup each domain as its own nameserver at your registrar, it does not take that long even at godaddy. (whos interface sucks)

1. Get your ip address
2. register your domain as a nameserver setting up ns1 and ns2 using your IP. (there are spaces for more than one IP but you only need one)
3. change the nameservers to ns1.yourdomain and ns2.yourdomain.

All the registrars have a different setup but each of them should have instructions on how to do it.

There are many benefits to having a network of sites that appear as seperate sites. It can be a very cost effice link building method as volund says. It also gives rise to other revenue generating possibilities that simply are not possible with just one dedicated ip.

Also, it doesn't have to be a waste of money to get multiple ips. The thrust of this thread has been to show ways to make it as cheap as ordinary hosting.

Thanks again volund, I'll look into that nameserver suggestion.

Thought its an SEO hosting or any standard hosting service, rules to choose a best and reliable web hosting provider is still the same. One should consider the points mentioned by BHW members many times.

I just went to their site and there is no mention of seo hosting on it anywhere. If you are going to spam on your first post you should at least make sure that it is in a thread that matches the site you are trying to send people to.

Now this one looks worth checking out though that chat box popping up every time I load a new page is extremely annoying.
