    Hello everyone

So I've been on BHW for about 6-7 months and usually read different threads here for hours straight. This has helped me learn a lot about SEO, but still not enough (never is, though).

Anyway. I read a lot about: don't blast your money site, grow backlinks to web 2.0, etc etc. Although usually it is common sense and easy to figure out the context, I still do not see the whole "big picture". I have been gathering bits and pieces of information from here and there, but everything still does not fit in together as I would like it to.

Make a lot of web 2.0 properties, blast those with incoming links, and the web 2.0 links to the money site so your money site gets good value. This is the basics of what I understand - but I'd like to know a lot more. Even know about the tools. I've read a lot about scrapebox, MS (for researching keywords, etc) but do not understand their power completely yet because of that fact that my knowledge of SEO techniques (and the "big picture") is not very clear.

So I am wondering - what is the best resource to learn the basics (from ground level) and build my way up to the top. Perhaps some tutorial, useful guide/book you can point me to? Most books talk about the "traditional ways" which seem a bit out of date.

    Help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Desi, I think you are on the right track with your understanding of how this site can help you with backlinking. Yes, doing all the above will get you some place, but not always on the first page.

Article syndication sites with quality PR and good content is another good way of climbing the search engines. Just remember, if you think your backlinks are spammy, and look unnatural ( like 500 a day) on a brand new site, what do you think Google will think of it?

Onpage seo will also get your ranked to a certain extent. Concentrate on learning different onpage seo elements like header tags, anchor text, and how to correctly alt tag an image. All of those will help in the long run. If you have any other questions, shoot me a pm. I rank high for all of my sites. I have many seo clients that use me for their seo including alot of big time law firms in many areas. :)

    Hello

Appreciate your response. I already have a good sense of on-page SEO (or so I think) and have implemented good techniques on all my sites. For the smaller niches, I do rank high (on page 1, etc) but that is due to low competition and exact domain match. And good on-page seo. Not a lot of backlink building, although a bit was done.

I really want to learn the whole structure of linking / web 2.0 / etc though and am having trouble finding a good resource for it.

Different techniques have different effects. try using some of the services in the services section and see what helps your site rank.

Once you know what works best, use those same strategies on your own instead of outsourcing it to others.

Some niches only need a few hundred links while others need thousands of powerful ones.

You have to test. SEO and IM is so big that there is no real concise book to tell you how to do it.

No problem there is no time lost, you can still build links and compete with your competition.
