Hello people,

I am not an SEO guru but many here are, so I have a question for you. I have launched a site and for some reason it isn't ranking for its EMD, like it usually does. The domain is 14 years old, it has not been sandboxed as I can still find it on Google just not under its EMD.

Usually when I launch a site with a lot of high quality content it will rank for the EMD within days. Also the EMD isnt 'insurance' or anything competitive, it is highly uncompetitive, it should be an easy 1st place rank.

With this site it is only important that it ranks for its EMD, nothing else matters.

If anyone can recommend an as close to 'white hat' offering available on BHW as possible for me to use, or you have any other suggestion, I would be grateful.

Warm regards,

Anthony

If it isn't penalized then I'm guessing the keyword is highly competitive. For EMD's to rank I find it best to focus on building good links with raw URL and domain as anchor, such as "domain.com".

You said the domain is 14 years old, but how long have you owned it, and how long has the new site been live? Sometimes sites disappear from the top couple hundred SERP's for a little while before they settle at a higher position. Assuming that you have decent On page SEO, and the site is already indexed, the only thing beside a penalty that should prevent you from ranking the EMD would be the competition...EMD doesn't guarantee a good rank, it just makes it a little easier (I believe this is partially because the raw URL is good anchor text itself...), so you'll still need to have a better backlink profile, and/or higher authority domain, and better on-page seo, etc to outrank others that are targeting the keyword/phrase...

EMDs are not so powerful anymore after all the Google updates. Of course it depends on the case, but it is certainly not as powerful as before, especially in cases if there is already similar domain name ranking on top, if the domain does contain many words and/or if it is .net, .org etc.

ProSEO -

Yes, I am also thinking that the reason it hasn't ranked well yet is because of the amount of time it has been unused.

What near as 'whitehat' SEO package would you recommend I purchase?

before google panda
EMD is great methode. i can rank my site with full copy paste content
after panda :( EMD not works for me

You cannot rank only with EMD and fresh content in a competitive niche. But if it is not competitive you definitely have issues on the domain which you said is 14 years old. Trackback the website and see what was going on in the last 14 years with the website.

Use waybackmachine to see what is the use of that domain in the past. I suspect it has been used brutally. Coz, if you say it is an easy niche, then there is no problem.

Check the past life of that domain.

Unless the keyword combination on your EMD is too competitive, it should rank naturally, with very few links, but this requires some time.

New domains get a boost, then they fall into oblivion(sandbox, etc), then they come back.

Thanks guys, I checked the way back machine and the site has only been snapshot 17 times in 14 years, it has never had content on it.

My biggest fear is this, I can buy 1 or 2 blog post services from BHW and get the site to rank quickly for the one term however having just been hit by Google on 2 other sites I dont know if I should do this, especially as this is my main money site moving forward.

Anyone got a recommendation?
