I’m new to blogging and currently trying to understand how SEO actually works in 2026. There’s honestly a lot of mixed advice out there — some people say backlinks are everything, others say focus only on content, and some talk about AI tools doing everything automatically. It’s a bit confusing


So I wanted to ask the experienced members here:


If you were starting from scratch today, what would you focus on first?


From what I’ve learned so far, these seem important:

• Keyword research (finding low competition keywords)
• Writing helpful, user-focused content
• Basic on-page SEO (titles, headings, internal linking)
• Site speed and mobile optimization

But I’m not sure what actually moves the needle in the beginning.


Also:
