SEO for fresh site?

Hi,

I ordered yesterday a new domain and today the site is online (a small blog with 5 articles)
what would you guys do for a fresh project? ping, link directories, article directories, xrumer.. scrapebox..? or is it to soon for massive link building?

I usually let my domain age a little, but it depends on your goal i guess: if you intend to use it for a short "money blast" you can use all of the above, if you're planning on keeping it for a while, i'd start slow, giving it a few weeks of white hat before going extreme. Good Luck!

They all still work in varying degrees... Velocity is a matter of choice, but slow and steady can win the race... Anchor variation is very important, which I am leaning toward 70/30, ie 80% of my anchors are for non-keyword terms.

Let it age then slowly start building some web 2.0s and submit your site to several social networking sites.

Now just focus on updating new content for a month or so. After a month looking at the position start building backlinks slowly till it's ranked. Don't overdo mass backlinks right away...

I guess this might be a stupid question, but how long does it take Google to "notice" backlinks? I've been making backlinks to my blog on various high-ranking sites for my keywords and I haven't noticed much difference. But then again, it's only been a few days.

Have you been pinging your backlinks? Google won't notice them unless the pages with your linkes are crawled (presuming the pages are indexed of course..). There are plenty of free pinging sites where you can ping your links or you can head over to linklicious and make a free account there.

Also, from experience I'd take it easy with link building to a new site. 10-20 per day tops probably.

I second that (10-20 per day). I would focus more on quality content and then start slowly bringing in some links. I usually start with link directories, then setup facebook/twitter accts, google plus, create some social signals... then move onto web 2.0's etc.

We can't determine how fast it will be noticed by google. It depends on site to site, high PR & traffic sites are often crawled compared to low PR & traffic sites.
