SEO For Firefox - PLEASE HELP!!

I have been searching far and wide for an answer to this.

When looking for keyword competiton in google I use the SEO for firefox addon to check for number of backlinks. Should I be looking at the domain backlinks or the page links?

Im thinking of looking at the page links as thats the page that is ranked but sometimes there are no (or very little) pagelinks but 1000's of domain links.

Some people will say that those pages are ranked high because of the link juice that is passed to the page from the domain. If this is the case, why arent hubpages, squidoo lenses and such ranking high for every keyword?

Please please pleeeease can someone shed a little light on this

You Should check the backlinks for the page that is your competitor and not the homepage. Juice flows from the homepage to another page only if it has a link from the HomePage.
