I have a client requesting SEO for his facebook fanpage. That is he wants his FB page to be in the 1st page of G for a moderately high competition 1 word keyword. I've succesfully done the same keyword for his .com site, but now he wants more for his FB Page.
Anyone has an experience doing SEO for Fb page? Is this possible?
Thanks in advance for any info shared

Just treat it as a normal site I guess. It's the same as ranking a web 2.0 or so.
I've been in a niche where a facebook fanpage was pretty hard to pass, eventually did it tho :p

Mind to share any special method you used to get it done eventually?
From what I can imagine we can't use Press release and web directory for this sake since it's not a website, can we?

Done that for the onpage whitehat. But surely its not enough considering the competition level of the keyword.
    Need some effective backlinking strategy.
Is Like amount play a big role here? Does it matter for SERP if the page have hundreds or thousands of Like?

Well you may be able to rank a FB fan page, I think that you may be missing the point. The way I see it, FB is an interactive social media site. So why not try and get people to interact on the fan page, using contests, humor, or polls? Perhaps, you can even offer some sort of incentive for those who like or share the fan page. Trying to rank a fan page seems pretty passive, and you lose some of your branding potential. Not trying to slam you, just my way of looking at this.

Good point. I would if it's my own FB fanpage. But I've said that this is my client's and he just want me to rank it.

    Of course you can.
    Use the same techniques.
Also use as close to an EMD as possible.
    I have done it.
It may not go to the top 3 but you should be able to get into the top 10 depending on the niche.
