I recently bought a aged domain name (just over 9 years old) and although you would say it sounds easy, I'm guessing its not that easy to do SEO for an aged domain. The website has an Alexa rank of about 20,800,000, and a PR 0. Would lots of backlinks for an aged domain name do more harm then good? What's your advice for building the SERP of a domain name like this?

start with a few quality links and improve on those, don't go for the generic keywords better use names, exact kw, and long keywords and see how well it ranks (what positions). After that improve and add even more links with a drip feed.

If you bought the domain after it's dropped from a registry, I would backlink like any new site.
Just go slow for now

I'd buy high quality backlinks from good related PR domain names. However, most aged domain names have advantage over new ones.

Treat the domain as a new domain so that you would be on the safe site.
