Hi guys, I'm new to the world of SEO, but really wanting to learn. I have a business website running in Magento, an active twitter account and a reasonably successful Facebook community. I'm on top of the twitter and FB in terms of driving traffic to the eCom site, but I could do with an overview of what i need to do to improve my eCom site. I've just started looking as to which service to hire for back link creating, but concerned there is house keeping I need to do first?

Always good to be cautious. ;)

I'd reccomend you take a look at SEOmoz's article about the best practices for on-page SEO (seomoz.org/learn-seo/on-page-factors). This will give you the general know how, and things to look for when optimizing your on-page SEO.

That depends on A LOT of stuff. What is your niche? And what is your current backlink profile? Is your site established? Do you have unique content on each of the pages on your site? Etc. If you're serious about it, then it's not easy and needs to be taken care of by a professional. If you're just gambling or trying to figure SEO out then you can try all the different service providers in BHW's BST section.. :)
