Seo Expert Advice needed

Well I'm pretty much out of ideas so i would really appreciate any advice that you guys could give me .I have an year old shopping/bargains related site that used to rank very well for specific keywords like "Sephora Coupons" and "Home Depot Coupons". The problem is that two months ago I lost ranking for all the keywords that bring me traffic from Google. I though it was some kind of a penalty but when I checked the I noticed that my site still ranks on the second page for both the words Freebie and Freebies which are highly competitive so I don't think that I'm sandboxed or de indexed. I tried to switch all the meta descriptions of the categories and posts that used to rank well in google and I also switched all my post links to nofollow but this didn't help my rankings at all.So what do you think is this some kind of a penalty and if it is how can I fix it?

After about 5 minutes of looking at it let me tell you your problem.

1.Your backlinks suck. Google probably slapped you to the second page because of it...alot of spammy backlinks.....

2.Your competition has more content then you...ie. text

3.Your also out pageranked.

To fix it

1.Remove the spammy links
2.Research Linkwheel
3.Add more content to your Sephora coupon page and keyword enriched with Sephora coupon. make sure your keyword density is around 5%

Also I noticed your meta tags are completely blank....while your competitors has

I am by no means a SEO expert but I still can try to give you some advices. First of all please remove that freaking ad banner on the top. That sound scared the hell out of me as I had to put my speakers pretty loud (watching some old rips of SEINFELD).

Currently you're not hit by any penalty as far as I can see. You've got over 4k sites indexed so thats pretty good.

I can see that your site ranks for "Sephora Coupons" on rank 69 but not in top100 for "Home Depot Coupons" (checked with google.com, US). You've got about where you can start working on.

Here is what I would do:

• Build consistent backlinks using about 3 different anchors (keyword phrases)
• You might try and write some articles and post them on wordpress.com, squidoo, hubpages and other high PR sites and put 3-5 keyword phrases linked to your site
• Create more inner links to your deep linking sites ( freebiereporter.com/category/coupons/sephora-coupons). Try writing articles and link only to THAT page(s)

I've had several clients who just signed with me complain about a similar situation where they had some ranks and disappeared... with more an more SEO's out there (like me ) it's getting harder to rank and just because you rank today doesn't mean the competition can't hire an seo and blow you out of the water.

I agree with the above comments. I would also add in there to update the site with fresh keyword content. This may also help out. And yes someone may have simply out ranked you. Build back links with keyword titles continually.
