SEO effect from deleting Site Title? (Wordpress)

Hey guys,

Have a pretty niche question, currently running a client site on Wordpress. I've used Yoast to set all the title tags and meta descriptions.

Now when the Homepage/Frontpage appears in the SERPs, it's taking & displaying the Wordpress Site Title + Yoast SEO Title, so it's quite a mess when seen on google. From my understanding the Wordpress Site Title is technically the Frontpage/Homepage Title as well, so there's good reason for it being duplicated.

Basically my client wants that to be cleaned up when appearing in the SERPS, and I am not sure from an SEO perspective what would be the best option. Should I delete the Wordpress Site Title? Delete the Yoast SEO Title? Is there a better option?

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

I'll clear the WP title as it serves no major purpose except for the backend users , Moreover the text don't get seen on most individual pages with long titles.

Best approach is clearing the WP text leaving the optimized yoast title for the home page.

Ideally you can clear all the slugs "Title" "Seperator " etc leaving you a clear room to have the page well laid out.

It depends on the size of the site. If it is big, you can make the change in the settings menu, just clear it out, then go to the homepage and set an appropriate title and description using Yoast. If you are building the site as you go along, you can leave the settings menu as it is, and change the Yoast title for each page you build. Either way, you end up with the same thing.

In terms of rankings, it has helped me in the SERPs when I have cleaned up the titles + CTR is far better, as it is easier and quicker to see what the page is about.
