But I would like to say something people over look (Even KW 'Experts').
Look past the top ten, Top 20 at least. Now a days in SERPs you can have Amazon in top ten twice, Walmart, and CNN in top ten with no direct links to the page. The rest of the top ten can all be ecommerce sites but you may think you can beat them.
Then you look at page two, and find ten sites all targeting the KW with a hidden PBN, several hundred links to that exact page, and a couple Sape links.
When you look at top ten, and in most KW competition programs the type of KW I mentioned would be relatively easy or medium at most. When you look past page one you can find a whole lot of ugly. Page one has a lot to do with CTR.
I am trying to say be extensive. If you do that you should have no problem.
