If I have an article in top 5 google search and I change few words in context and title which are part of the seo, the article will still be in the top 5? or if it is going down is it happening overnight or?

Nobody can tell that :D You need to try and see how it goes.

You can try and see for yourself, but if those terms are related to the keyword you are targeting then most likely the position will change. However, I'd like to have more context of the question.

You mean the article title or the page/post title also?

It depends. The Google result position is not always guaranteed. These are some of the factors why your website can move up and down. The first on the list is website content. The second factor is the link from other sites to your website. The third factor lies in the Meta Data part. If you are to change something in the content, it may or may not affect your website.

Article title. Well it should go down.. If I have the word 'example' in title and article body and I target the 'example' keywords seems pretty normal to go down.. Now if is happening over night I guess it depends of how many search the keyword has, the competition and a lot of factors..

SEO is trial and error game, so you should take an attempt to know, also updating content won't reduce your search position, if you did it right.

Well i think you should avoid changing anything now.
