Is that software been updated lately?
There are a lot of school and unfortunately i think there is no golden rule. If everyone in specific niche doing directly to MS and G do not care, why you should not take advantage?

RankerX rocks as becuse of its simplicity - you can execute/clone templates and run a campaign. Best part is you also a lifetimemember - no need to pay fee monthly etc..
I tried SEO Auto Pilot last year (just got too busy this year) and I can say it works well. If you have a repository of well-written articles, this tool makes it easy for you to create web 2.0 sites in a matter of minutes. Depending on how aggressive your settings is, it creates hundreds if not thousands of web 2.0 links. You have to use a good indexing service in addition to it. Just follow their advice on the set up, their team is pretty responsive too.
