Hey Guys.

FIrst of all, Sorry if Im posting this in a wrong section.

Recently these kind of jobs became very popular (I work on Freelancer and Upwork) and in last 3 months, I had 24 SEO Audit projects.

Id love to hear about your way of doing an SEO Audit.

Now, I dont mean the BS H1 tags missing and those kind of free tool generated SEO Audits.

Each of the audit report pdf that I create varies in 10-20 pages on PDF.

I charge $450 per each audit,
that includes:
- General on page SEO audit, H1 tags, keywords etc...
- website performance and page load audit,
- Suggestions on the design (for example, some elements on the website may need to be removed, or suggestions to add some other blocks) - something that truly can NOT be automated, since it really needs human mind, since all these websites are individual.
- Basic keyword research pool
- Analysis on GA & GSC, suggestions and to dos based on the data provided in these tools. - again, not something that easily can be automated.

Here is what I found myself doing. It takes me about about 7-9 hours to gather all the data, write down the major points, suggestions etc etc.. and then I spend around 2-4 hours on creating a nice, professionally representable PDF file. With nicely laid out suggestion blocks, to dos, website edits, configs etc.. whole 9 yards.

2-4 hours for this is a lot of time to waste, I realize. However, this kind of work - SEO Audits, has been the easiest money I made on Freelancer and Upwork. So, Im thinking about creating a tool, an online app which I will use, and will share it with a good BHW community here as well. But I need couple pointers.

Id love to hear your SEO Audit process, what is the most time consuming thing and what can be automated?

Here is what I came up so far, things that my app will automate and other features.

1) Automatic scan on page performance and suggestions. This can be automated, as in creating report on using the cache, optimizing images, combining JS and CSS files into one, mification etc etc...

2) Check the domain for spam backlinks. Will have to use Moz and / or Ahref API for this.

3) Will include general SEO & Security To-DOs for different CMS platforms like WordPress, Joomla, Magento etc.. User an drop this block in the report based on whatever platform website he is working on. (Saves time)

4) App will give an user ability to create a pre-defined blocks with design modifications for suggestion boxes, Info blocks etc (If you have ever read any of the "For Dummies" book series, you will know what I mean, they have this suggestion blocks, info blocks etc really nicely done)

5) Whitelabel ability - User can upload his logo, website url etc.. so that endresult PDF file will have no footprints of app and will display the users info in the header, footer etc..

Bottom Line idea is to create a semi-automated SEO Audit generation tool, that will help you create a real SEO Audit. Think of Drag and Drop Website builder tools, but for the SEO Audit PDF Report creation instead, just like Drag & Drop Website builders, it will help you save a lot of time but will need your input as well to create a truly professional report PDF : ))

I will share the software with people with useful insights. So, help me and together we will create a tool that we can all use. Besides BHW community, I think I can run a monthly membership on a software, or just close it and use it for myself. What do you think about this ? Do you think SEO Consultants would pay monthly for a software like this? Im thinking somewhere $30-45 range.

Should be a good thing, if you charge at least $100 per SEO Audit and you can create a lot of Audits every month. I dont know. Im open to ideas. I realize it will be a lot of work, but I have a small dev company with 3 programmers and we have some free time that we can dedicate to this software.

So the service you are now charging $450 for will be available at $45? Think this business plan needs more... planning.

Would like to see a sample report.

Following and will try contributing after doing an audit for some of the sites to see what is the most time consuming step.

lol. thats funny : ))

No, I charge $450 for my knowledge and experience. This SEO Audit tool will be semi-automatic, will help you speed up and automatize processes that can be automated... but will not replace a human mind, knowledge and experience.
Just to compare, ScrapeBox is a tool, and if you know how to use it, you can do great things with it, but if you dont know, you will just create some lowest quality spamy comments and thats all. Scrapebox is relatively cheap, yet you can do stuff with it, that you would charge lot more to your customers, isnt it so?

To give you real example from one of my recent audit jobs, customer had a WP website, with a badly coded custom theme and a horribly coded sidebar widgets.
Im talking divs, inside divs, inside divs, inside divs - imagine 8 level depth of divs, just to align post title next to the post date.

In total, his sidebar with 5 widgets was creating 650+ lines of code in html source, which I suggested (and then I edited it for him) and we were able to maintain same look, with only 180+ lines of code.

This particular example may not be a huge thing for SEO, but regardless, this is something that automated tool can not suggest, needs a human mind.

Yes, I appreciate the following and your input.
Let me know what you find to be most time consuming tasks and your SEO audit process in general.
