    Hi guys,

Does google penalize for duplicate content or plagiarism. A friend who has ecommerce site wants me to grab content on his site which has less traffic on the blog and post it on my blog site with higher rank. Just wondering if google checks or penalizes for that sort of thing?

I don’t want my blog SEO penalized.

Google doesn’t like using the word ‘penalty’ but if your entire site is made of entirely of republished content – Google does not want to rank it above others. So, it's good to use unique content. Or else, remove the content on his site.

Using duplicate content sabotages your SEO which can result your site rankings to struggle in SERPs. Obviously it may backfire on your website. Just avoid it if you don't want the risk.
