Hi there BHW!
Im new to the whole SEO but have been reading about it for the last few months, a lurker if you wish.
Im looking for some advice on SEO techniques for my shop.

Heres a rough outline of what i do:

I run a small laptop shop in the UK. We do sales, repairs and website building (small ones for local business's etc) and we are looking to provide SEO services in the future (once ive got my head around this intriguing world lol )

Heres what ive done so far.
Installed ACESEF for my Joomla and configured it to the best of my knowledge. Meta tags and descriptions all filled in after researching the keywords and competition with Market Samauri.

Used Market Samauri to research more keywords etc

Used the results from that to build a SENuke Campaign that ran for several weeks giving us a fair amount of back links etc.

Brought more backlinks from the "Fiverr" website (dont laugh, its cheap )

Wrote plenty of articles for when they are needed.

What I need help with:
Good techniques for getting my site up google.
I know this is a very broad question but hopefully the things that people say i can research more and fill in the blanks.


EDIT: To add further. I also have quite a few other domains (about 15) which are not being used at the moment. If i upload my main site to these other domains will i get penalised in Google for dupe content?


I know there are lots of software out there such as SENuke and Market Samauri, but is there any other software such as Article Marketing Robot which is good for beginners and aspiring SEO gurus?


Also, budget is not really a big deal as im willing to put a lot of money into this if i can guarantee it will give me some return and i can obviously make it back. Ive been saving for this purpose for a while now.

Ill update this thread with any more questions when they get back into my head as they seem to have gone walkabouts at the moment

Well, first of all you should have your onsite SEO as closest as you can get to "perfect".
What do I mean by onsite SEO:

1. Title:
> Must contain the primary and the secondary words you're targeting - It should be relevant to your business (you can fool Google but you can't fool visitors).
> Should not be longer than 10 words and maximum 80 characters including spaces (I recommend 66 characters - that is how much Google shows your title in search page)
> You should have an unique title for each page - also relevant to the page

2. MetaTags:
> Use your primary and secondary keywords to form a relevant and attractive description of your website. Of course it should look natural.
> Each Description should be relevant with each title on every page (title and description for every page)
> Should not be longer than 30 words and 180 characters including spaces (I recommend 20 words and 140 characters including spaces)

3. Keywords:
> I've heard this tag isn't used so much anymore by Google to identify what your site is about...
> Should contain maximum 10 keywords.
> You should have unique keywords tags for every page.

4. Header 1:
> This is very important - you should create harmony between page's Title, Description and Header 1 tag - these 3 will tell Google what your site is about and what keywords you target
> Here you should use your primary keyword
> Make it look like a headline and it must be relevant and unique to look natural

5. Headers 2,3,4:
> Here you can use your secondary keywords - you should use them at least once on your page.
> Also, every header should be relevant

6. SEO Friendly URL's
> If you target let's say the keyword "red rose" you should have a page on your site about "red rose" with an url like : www dot domain dot tld / red-rose / > this combined with a well optimized title, description, headers should be a powerful weapon against your competitors

7. Image alt-tags:
> Use them ! Use them a lot ! Insert your keywords in those tags and make it look natural.

About the off-site SEO, I would say be careful ! 5$ you give, 5$ merchandise you get ! Trust me !
Here on BHW you can find great services, a bit expensive but they worth a lot in SEO terms !

An advice (tested on my own unfortunately) don't scrapebox blast directly your money site - and if you still want to do this, make sure you distribute the links evenly on all your pages and the anchor texts are very, very diversified and phrase like - never put just the keyword in the anchor !

Try to create a link wheel on your own with the different services here on BHW (buying a Linkwheel service can be very expensive).

You should start your off-site SEO slow - buy a few High PR links, buy a few Blog Comments even if most of them are no-follow they count ! Buy a few .edu and .gov links. Make some articles or buy some articles and upload them to article directories.

If you have a new site / new domain (less than 2 months) you should index maximum 100 links per day every day - some say it would much safe to index only 50. Try not to have extreme spikes in activity, that can be very suspicious for search engines.

Regarding the Titles, headers (h1,h2,h3) and meta tags. I "THINK" i have completed all these to them specifications. I had been doing alot of reading over the past few months before i even attempted to put things into action.
SEF urls have been done by ACESEF plugin.
In SEO terms the site is fairly new - less that approx 8 months old.
My site seems to be doing a very long Google Dance at the moment unfortuntely.

You should get ready for some very looong nights in the first weeks doing SEO.

I hit the brick wall a few times these weeks, but that's good because I've learned a lot from my mistakes. You should have one Golden Rule: Never Give Up !

haha, yeah, i love forums, member of quite a few.
Learnt alot of what i know now from website building to programming with extremely late nights on forums and breaking things i might add
