I have purchased a domain 7 years old in age, PR 1 from godaddy auctions, Web designing niche.

Now if i put a 301 redirect to it, & apply for a change of address using webmaster tools,

Will it pass the domain age of 7 years to my 2year old domain?

What do you think is the SEO benefit of doing this? Is it worth doing it? or should i build a site on the 7 year old domain?

Do Godaddy expired domains that are auctioned pass on any value?

    Congrats!

It won't pass domain age thus no search engines will see your 2 yr old domain as 7 years old domain

Age! Google and All Major Search engines does gives priority to domain's age. Its definitely worth doing it. Yes Build Site on that 7 Yr old domain and Build only quality backlinks - Keep the pace Slow and Steady. Your 7 Yr Old Domain will own Authority Crown Very Soon

Not only godaddy, all Expired Domains does pass Anchor links, PR Juice as well as spammy backlinks to redirected domain.

    Good Day!
    :)

You pass link juice also :) Although Google has mentioned that you may not get 100% of your link benefits but still it's the way to pass all link juice...

OP if domain name is good then you should create website on it...

Bizroot is 100% right. A 7 year old domain pr1 in the website design niche ^^^
I have a domain similar to yours and after 2 - 3 months ins not on page 1 it's #1 on g00gle so go for it.
btw domain age is very important and will not pass to other domains

    regards,
    AL

check if it is forged, I spent $150 buying doamins from godaddy auction, at the end all were forged... www.checkpagerank.net , check if your domain PR is valid.

thanks for the suggestions guys, For now i am redirecting the 7 years old domain to the 2 years old domain, don't have time to build the new site & the 2 year old domain has a brand name associated with it. while the 7 year old is super generic in nature. will wait n watch for few weeks, if nothing happens than i'd do it the otherway arround. or may build a site.....

Also I would create a new second site with your new domain and either keep your other running or depending on how things pan out and the amount of time you have redirect your original domain.

How about creating just a landing page for your site using the 7 year old domain?
