SEO advice for trade business

Looking for some advice to improve search rankings for a trade business a friend of mine owns.
The business itself performs bathroom construction and renovation - currently sitting in the top 5 of search results in our area but is still hidden behind a few other businesses so you have to scroll to find it.

Looking for advice on how to improve this ranking.
I admit I could and should search and I'm sure the advice I need is out there but I am currently a bit short on time and thought maybe I could get the answers I need through a post.

Search engine optimisation (SEO)
Understand your online customers
Use keywords on your website
Refresh your page content often
Gain links from other websites
Include the meta description tag.
 
Write more content for the hidden keywords and publish
then build some backlinks

Content is your friend. Create some content, on a blog or similar and target keywords. Then build links to those posts to see them rise.
 
Great question!

Getting to the first page is a huge hurtle! Amazing enough as it is. To get to the first spot is even harder. There are many ways to edge up to that top spot. It is tough to advise on exactly what would help with your friend's site without knowing a little bit more info.

However, here are a few things to think about:

1. The website is fully User Friendly (mobile-first) and SEO optimized
2. The website has informative and useful blog style articles that are posted regularly
3. Other sites link to it as an authoritative site on the industry
4. The website and business are registered on Google Business for local searches
5. Investigate your competition and see what they are doing that you are not doing

These are highly general. I know. But, generally, these are the main things to look at for improvement or development.

Analysis your competitor sites which is different from you.

Start building niche relevant back-links, register it on google business listings and ask your costumers to review it on google. register your site on more different business directories like yellow pages.
