Linux PC, a PAYG mobile phone (tenner a month I think), about 30mins to set it up. Used to do it for notification for a company I worked for. (UK Based)

google voice has free usa text messages.

MOST cell phone / mobile phone companies offer email to SMS

you send the email to [email protected]

it arrives in the inbox as an SMS and the best part is, very low spam filtering !!!!

You can set up an sms gateway server yourself.

Can you elaborate on this please? So I replace those xxxx with the phone number? What is att.net?
