How good is Semrush at finding backlinks compared to Ahrefs?
I wanna know my anchor text ratio for my sites, so it's important to find most of them so I can adjust.

For backlinks only, ahrefs is no1. But I don't think there is much difference in overal performance.

I used both and the backlink discovery feature becomes marginal when you need to take a bird's eye view over a domain/industry.

Ahrefs is excellent and SEMrush seems to be a far better alternative.

i like semrush as it is more user-friendly and represent data much better.

Ahrefs best for backlink and SemRush best for keyword research.

I use both... I can't say one is better than the other. However both tool is not very good to measure mobile traffic and seo. I haven't paid to Ahrefs for mobile stats though.

This thread again...

Ahrefs has by far the best backlink database. The only better one is owned by Google.

Both are best but Ahrefs is the best when it comes to find the backlinks.

Ahref is the best for backlinks than Semrush.

These both are considered as premium tools for marketing analysis and actually i like to use both tools at times but i have favorite features from both the tools.

SEMrush

  • Competitors research on best keywords, organic competitors and position changes

  • Advertising research with budget

  • Backlink details

  • Traffic analytics

  • Keyword ranking with difficulties and search volume

  • Domain vs domain comparison

  • Site audit to see your SEO health

  • Social media tracker
Ahrefs

  • A dashboard and overall interface for quickly seeing your health in SEO
  • Alerts for backlink, mentions and new keywords
  • A keyword explorer
  • Reports with charts
  • Content explorer with suggestions
When it comes to pricing both are similar. But Ahrefs bases its pricing strictly on volume. So, you would pay more for additional reports and keyword tracking, while SEMrush is focused on charging more for additional features – which can often mean that you’re paying for features that you don’t utilize.

I guess Ahrefs has largest backlink database and second biggest crawler after google so its fast to pick new backlinks IMO. Semrush data is often delayed by a bit, if that doesn't effect your requirement then both will be same more or less. It all comes down to how you use them.
