I know a lot of people use SEMrush (including myself). I'm been a bit disappointed lately as it appears the accuracy of their positon tracking is pretty unreliable compared to other position tracking services I've used (such as Whitespark). I tested rankings for many keywords and campaigns and found many that were ranked #1 to be reported as #3 or #4 in SEMrush. I've checked by using the Ad Preview tool in Adwords and setting the search city location and device appropriately, have used I Search From (I Search From: custom location, language, device & personalization Google Search tool to preview ads & results) and have used Whitespark's rank tracker. The latter three were all in agreement on the tests I ran yet in many cases SEMrush was different. Something definitely currrently whacky with SEMrush's Position Tracker.

Just throwing this out there for people also using SEMrush to track position. You may want to go double check the results you're getting from them.

One issue you may find (I think) if you are on a lower package, it does not update as frequently. Therefore things move around.

I used Semrush for years and finally ditched it sometime last year. It started to frequently throw out absolute nonsense. Positions, Traffic Estimations, Keyword Difficulty and so on.

I check every so often (using a free account) if it is back to its former glory. Unfortunately not for me. Personally I wouldn't waste my money on it these days.

The only thing I find of use these days is the paid ads checker. It's great for checking on comp ads, and also useful for outing bullshitters who pretend they are sinking 20m a year into ads.

Sort of a false alarm. It turns out it IS due to Local Pack Results and not having entered the business name into SEMrush, just the domain name. All is good.

Yes there is such problem, expeciallly when you are checking loca keywords or keywords which you can find on the maps. But I have never seen the tool which gives 100% right results. Everything depends on your project and location.

Ahrefs is way more accurate. PM me your url and I'll show you your rankings with ahrefs.

First time I hear something like this about Semrush, a lot of my friends are using it and we are all happy. But there is nothing wrong with testing other platform; I would love to see what other companies are offering and why they are different. Could you give more details? What do you like about Whitespark?
