Semrush How to Vet Backlinks

Hi!

I'm new to backlink building and was wondering what the most efficient/best way to vet competitor backlinks is to determine which would suit my website the most.

I'm currently using Semrush and I enter the competitor's domain in the "Backlink Analytics" section, then select the backlinks area to view all of them.

Would it be more suitable to select "Referring Domains" then sort it by an AS similar to my website?

Also, do I just have to manually go through all the websites to ensure they are niche relevant or is there some trick to it haha?

I would recommend selecting "Referring Domains" and then sorting by an AS similar to your website as it will help you identify websites that are in the same niche as yours and that have a high domain authority. You can then manually go through these websites to ensure that they are relevant to your niche and that the links are high quality.
