Semrush gonna waste Ahrefs now

They still offer the $7 trial for 7 days though. Who needs the service just occasionally can use this option.
 
I am sure Ahrefs took the right decision based on data they have.
 
Ahrefs might be planning to shut down their service to focus on their planned Search Engine. If they keep their service but launch a search engine, that'd be easy to manipulate as users can obtain their data and rankings.
 
Ahrefs is way ahead of Semrush in all of the data it provides. If they aren't making money on the freeloaders, why keep that option open?
 
If you are making money from SEO you can pay the price, if not group buy is the option.

Anyway, does anyone have Experience with SEO SPYGLASS?
 
Semrush links database is around 30% or less than what Ahrefs have. And since links are the foundation from where you build everything else, they won't be able to be real competition, until manage to fix that.
 
They are both going to be fucked soon because I'm working on my own SEO tool MickySpyFu.

PBNs aren't the only sites that block bots. ;-) As a matter of fact, I think I heard somewhere that a few of the big guns block them too (NBC, Netflix, etc.).

The reason I posted this thread is I was reading some online opinions and tons of folks mentioned how Semrush's free package does almost everything beginners need. No beginners will use Ahrefs. In the long run this is crazy.

But of course in the short term we got the "pay to play or get out of the way" crowd cheering.

That's actually quite possible.

Closing a service to new users usually precedes a bigger move in another direction. Google+ just called me and they agree.
 
Semrush, Majestic, Moz combined won't be as useful as Ahrefs. Lol

Never used ahrefs 'professionally', don't think I ever will.
 
Ahrefs is an invaluable tool. I don’t think they’ll suffer from this move - they’ll keep all of their paid customers, lose maybe 80% of non-paying customers and perhaps convert the other 20%. Win win.
