Semantic SEO my ass

I am old school guy, always was sick of these fancy agency style horse shit verbiage. But decided to be a bit open minded, so started learning concepts like semantic SEO, topical authority, E-A-T shit… Read a lot of case studies and guides, watched some 3 hour long videos on youtube.

And started creating high quality content with semantic principles a year ago. Designed my websites’ structures for modern google (i don’t know wtf that means), tried to be more obsessive on internal linking, organized content with silo structure.

There was 4 main projects I was dealing with: tech & gaming blog, SEO agency site, interactive educational project for gen z and finance blog.

I used these so-called modern SEO principles on agency site, tech and finance blog. Wasted months for this bullshit. Sometimes I wrote 4-5k word long articles providing really good info.

And on that gen-z focused site, I only used 300-400 word long ai generated articles (I used sensit ai). I posted 30-40 articles. Started working on this project in may 2022. Its traffic has increased 5x in 6 months. Also installed auto translate plugin last month, and its traffic has increased about 20% in a few weeks.

Do you want to know what happened to other sites? Forget about traffic, there aren’t any tiny improvements even on motherfucking impressions.

You are right. Sometime Big G is so weird.
But most people use Ai content for churn n burn projects.

You should not put too many eggs in one basket.

Also these concepts are not really meant for starting sites. Generally content primes detail, specially when you long tail. But when you want to outrank competitors, you should focus in all what you call shit.

So basically if you need to rank for a Gen Z Educational site that has purchased your services, you may, on one side, proxy the main site, as I would do to follow my go-wide principle, but at the same, time you must curate the main site, to achieve perfectionism. A good combination of techniques may move that side forward, if it's really needed.

But personally I prefer not to overfocus on this only on grievous sites like many I've seen (ultra-spammy sites, informational sites, without a pinch of EAT that are starting to hight rank and drive a ton of visits, etc...)

I share in your sentiment about all this SEO mumbo-jumbo and I really wished we went back to basics again when I used to earn $240 per month in Adsense with a MFA site that only had 20 PLR articles posted on the site AND submitted to EZA, GoArticles, Self Growth and Articlesbase, AS IS, and got the site in google within 1 month. Those were the days...

Anyway, I digressed a little but I wanted to say that all of these niches are very competitive, and competitive niches take time to rank, and if time alone was the only ranking factor it would not be bad, but you also need good domains, as well. Besides, one of google's updates last year (I don't remember which one, but it's been rolled out in November or December) has targeted the tech niche, so I'm not surprised that you're not having success with this niche. As for SEO and finance... well... these are perennial tough niches, so I don't know what you expected

But well for all before you spoke about, true and false, like obviously E-A-T have an impact but its basically a term that Google use which indicate that you cant really fool them. You need to provide for specific queries evidence that you as a writer / website-owner actually have knowledge about the subject. This means you cant really beat the system, so whats left is terms like that AI generated content you have that targets terms which doesn't have a high competiton and requries you as a website owner to show proof that you actually knows what you talking about. Remember Google wants to show us the best answers and this results that big companies win serps because they can afford to hire professors/doctors/professionals in any given field to back up the content they have.

But I also agree with you, many of these terms is created just to be able to sell systems to clients, SEO is as simple as ever just we as human beings that complicate stuff (Because then we can create value from it by teaching others etc)


But this is not something new, like look at the fitness industry and especially weight management - To loose weight you need a caloric deficit which means eat less then you daily average and especially dont eat over your daily average. Still we have millions of shit in the market. This is just how the world works, and now you know something regarding SEO now you can benefit by selling your ideas / knowledge to others (Even if you know its BS because thats usually how it works)

Are you building links at all?

Because all of those fancy optimizations without any links in a competitive niche would have you going crazy thinking you don't know what you're doing.

Links are incredibly important.

Of course. The reason that I didn’t mention about links is that many people in bhw are smart ass about backlinks. As I said, I am old school in this industry, so off-page SEO is my main skill.

I completely disagree. I've seen a lot of success when I create semantically related content silos and then build links efficiently. This works for both local SEO ad well as global SEO.

I'm going down the same rabbit hole you went down and I am also assuming we've watched the same youtube videos.

I haven't started semantic SEO on my website but i'll tell you this, everyone who is dominating my niche seems to be ranking based primarily on this factor.

I literally can see a direct correlation going down the serps based on this.

The problem isn't semantic SEO. The keywords you're targeting a too hard for your domain. Like you said, even links didn't work.

Just because I use semantic SEO principles and silos doesn't mean that I'm going to rank #1 for payday loans.

You're in competitive niches. You should think about finding sub-niches of sub-niches and then try using semantic SEO concepts.
