Hey guys,

I just found out someone that is ready to buy one of my website. I was wondering how can I do the transfer and stuff? Should I use an escrow?

Wich tool can I use to make sure I do get the money and I am not getting scammed?

I thought of doing something like this:

1. Client pay half the price ($) via paypal
2. I transfer domain name
3. Client pay the rest ($)
4. I send him all html/php pages and stuff

How can I deal with selling a website on my own?

J0kerz,
;)

It really depends on how much he is paying you for the website. If it is anything above $1,500 I'd suggest you use Escrow. Otherwise just make teh transaction through Paypal.

What you thought of works just fine, so you can stick to that unless of course he is fine with just doing a downright payment first. :)

Use escrow for anything over $500, use Paypal at your own risk.

May cost a bit more but trust me it pays to use it

How are the escrow's fees?

It's about $50 I believe and then you might have to pay extra to get the money wired to you.

Get buyer to cover fees anyway

ESCROW ESCROW ESCROW.. Did I scream that loud enough..

You are safe, sound and covered. Also right up a contract of the sale. Give allotted time frames, etc.

Good Luck!

escrow is the one answer for that
but if your transaction under 500 $
paypal maybe can help u :D

yes escrow all the way...i know about this the hard way.

Argg I dont know what to do. I am selling a website for 650$. If I use an escrow (50$ fee), it's gonna hurt..

If I sell my website using Flippa, do they include an escrow service?

Actually, I have sold many sites and used paypal. I am pretty sure if you send the money as a personal payment you cannot open a dispute. Also, I called paypal about this. If you use the Request Money feature. In the note or description, if you put that this is for the sale of the website blahblah.com they will not refund the money. Paypal does not handle ANY digital transactions. Just my 2 cents. If it's over $2000 in my mind tho, escrow is a small price to pay.

No, Flippa don't take any part in the transaction aside from listing site for you.

Depends who you are selling it too and how much that $50 means to you. If you have a contract, know the buyer well/good rep and you have a Paypal business account you could risk it.

Or just do a direct wire if buyer is happy with that - just make sure you have contracts all signed beforehand.

Escrow is the better safe than sorry method though...

That's not a sustainable way to use Paypal - buyers won't always pay using "personal payment" it just screams scam.

Paypal are a joke anyway, they lie on the phone etc and will happily limit your account without notice. I had a guy buy a site for $2k off me, chargeback, they banned my account even though I eventually won the dispute. Lesson learnt.

Proceed at your own risk...

Are you telling me not to use Paypal at all? I mean if I use Escrow.com and the payment is done to my paypal account. Would that be safe?

Inform the buyer of the situation and have him cover 50-100% of the fees

Yeah that's fine, or you have to pay to get it wired to your account as well. Adds up pretty quick.

I just wouldnt recommend using for the whole transaction :)

Allright I think Ill do it. Wire transfer.

I will check what are Escrow.com fees. I hope they are not THAT big.

Thanks buddy!

Does anyone know a good Escrow company? (smallest fees)

I use escrow.com - you get what you pay for

Hmm, heres the answer of my client after I talked about Escrow.com

Hmm, I see that Escrow.com doesn't accept PayPal for websites. I would be more than happy to send the money to you through PayPal first, and then when you see that the payment has been sent and is in your account, you can do the rest. As my bank charges an equivalent of about $60 fee for 24 hour wire transfer.

My PayPal is a verified account. If you still feel that PayPal isn't good enough, I am also happy to go through eBay, which I have 100% feedback with 39 feedback score (Amount of transactions).

Is paypal safe if I get the money first? I mean, once the money will be in my paypal account, everything will be fine right? There is no way he can sue me or anything?
