    Hi

I have been trying to well websites to local businesses and have managed to sell a couple, but what I really wish to do is sell SEO and Social Media marketing which would bring in a higher recurring income. I'm still not 100% on SEO so I want to start with Social Media Marketing as I know how simple it is to create pages and gain real local likes.

There is a new restaurant that has opened this week and I want to sell them this service but how do I go about it? If I ring them, ask to speak to the owner and then what? What do I say to the owner? I don't wish to be so blunt and be like 'Hi, I sell Social Media Marketing, are you currently on Facebook? as I can just see myself losing the sale.

Has anyone here got ay tips on what to say? I know it will be better have a meeting with the owner but how would I go about asking for that as again I don't think being so blunt will work. These businesses need to be educated on why they need it.

    Any tips?

The benefits should be describable in an "elevator pitch". I don't know what it would be for social media. ORM is easy "your negative reviews are killing you".... SEO is also easy "you are not showing up on top of google" and mobile is easy "losing half of your cusomters..".

But social media, I guess I like to hear the pitch too :)

I would sell a very specific service/result. For example if you have a way to force a Facebook visitor through an app to like a restaurant, swipe their email, post to their wall and redeem an offer then push that specifically. Restaurants like all clients respond to specifics, especially profitable ones.

You can tell them your a social media expert and you were wondering that they are doing at the moment to leverage social media and increase their sales volume (or something to that effect).

I would focus on building your knowledge of SEO first as most of the companies you will be targeting will want quick ROI. Social media doesn't bring quick ROI but a constant engagement with it's fan base and long term ROI thus you will lose them quickly if they don't see any return right off the bat.
