Hello everyone!
I am a Digital Marketer and I have expertise in e-commerce hence I am quite good in Facebook Ads, Google Ads, Email Marketing (basically everything which is needed to run an e-commerce brand). I have made an account on UpWork and got it approved. Have done approaching few clients (I’m good in writing) but have no luck so far. Is there anything I’m missing? (I have heard of buying reviews but I’m not sure how does that work, I feel that reviews are there when I respond to a job and we can’t give reviews directly) so I’m clueless.

To the mods: I’m not trying to sell anything here, neither I will. The above information is just there to give a complete information about my work.

Try offering the same service 2 or 3 times with different pics and descriptions.
That has worked fine on Fiverr.

Might as well follow this journey thread from @stepdub https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/150-000-by-dec-2020-crushing-it-on-upwork.1184632/

He shared a lot of golden nuggets in the above thread

That's not good writing mate being blunt.
Yes bro It’s BHW so I can use the social media lingo. But I just wanted to say that I am a good writer so it’s not about the proposal, pricing is quite reasonable too. So there is something else that I’m missing.

Upwork is different sadly. I can just try writing different cover letter and proposals

I just meant to say that I am more professional when it comes to writing proposals / cover letter than replying to help threads on my favourite online forum.
Be that as it may, it’s not that hard to see that you’re not a native speaker and that’s perfectly fine. Play to your strengths. What else are you good at?

Yes, I’m not a native speaker but I think I’m not too bad in English.

I’m playing with my strengths, and trying to be as competitive as I can be.

I can make high performing ecommerce stores in every category, can design email and strategise the email plan to get better results. I have been trying to respond to jobs related to these.

Try to come up with a specific strategy that will allow you to understand exactly how to attract customers to your services. You can lower prices and offer high-quality services (at the initial stage it will work), then you need to get at least 2-3 positive reviews and already slightly increase prices, and so gradually you will reach a good level of sales of your services.

Alright bro I’ll work on it.

I have a question: Is it really important to buy reviews as other say? Can we still get the job without having job based reviews? I have asked some previous clients to add genuine reviews and they did.

Getting 3-4 reviews on your new Upwork account will definitely increase the chances of landing jobs. You can buy reviews on BHW Marketplace.

Every Content writer that has applied to my jobs has said that he has Excellent and above-average English skills and can produce Excellent content...
75% Of them can't even write below-average content when the delivery time comes & I'm only Hiring Native Writers... :D

I have tried hiring non-native writers, the ratio of excellent/terrible writers was 1/20 :D
How confident are you that you are the 1 in 20?

If I see bad grammar/weird stuff in the application letter - It's an Instant Skip & I'm not wasting my time with you.

Personalised application letters are the key...Convince me in 2 Paragraphs or less and you are Hired!

If you just send me Copy&Paste application letter = Instant Skip!
I do not care about your 5 page Resume,or how good of a writer you claim to be.. Every Writer will say he is a good writer!

I know you are not looking for content writing jobs, but this is universal!

World becoming hard day by day. Nothing is easy! keep try your luck and hope you will be a success soon. Best of luck

Upwork is getting crowded day by day be patient and try to find a work even at lowest price just to get some reviews ..You can always ask family or a friend to post a gig and hire you that way you can have some reviews
