I'm trying to sell someone else's web design services to other people and businesses.

1. I want to do cold calling but how would I go about doing this? Just find a business that doesn't have a website/has a low quality one and ask for the owner?

2. What is your opionin on selling web design services on craigslist? Have any of you tried it? How are the results?

3. How would you go about selling these services with adwords? How would that work locally?

4. What other ways I can find people to sell?

Thanks

Go to the yellow pages and contact companies that are spending money on advertising there. By only focusing on people spending money on advertising, you can convince them that your design will make each of their visitors worth more to them. A friend of mine is doing it this exact way and it's much better than just contacting site owners at random.

I appreciate that response gimmemoney. VERY useful. Rep and thanks given.

We were doing it also but since Yellow Page is offering website, SEO and shit, you will need to prepare yourself to fight against them because if custommer is advertising in Yellow page, keep in mind that their representative probably already called the custommer to offer him turnkey package.

I think it's different though.

The Yellow Pages is known as a directory. That's their specialty and many business owners know that. They would want to be listed in their directory, but if they are looking for a website or SEO, they would look for someone who actually specializes in it. Sure YP makes some turnkey sales, but if anything YP helps us to educate prospective clients on SEO.

Another thing that works quite well is bundling web design with SEO.

Take a screenshot of their niche's Google results. Put a comment (via snaggit) saying something like "You could be here" with an arrow to the top spot.

You can then use an online service to get that image put on a postcard and it's pretty cheap. On the back of the postcard tell them you can help them be found on the internet and leave your number. You will get some people calling you back and if they don't it's a great opener for your call.

Yellow pages still works for me, it doesnt bring a huge amount of sales but enough it makes sense to keep using it

If you know how shady yellowpages is, and familiar with their prices you can convince people that aren't getting results to move over to your services. Done it before many times.
