Selling SEO to Pediatricians? Please help.

I got a Pediatrics site ranked #2 in Google Places. There are about 20 Pediatricians in this area. And many in the neighboring cities that I feel could benefit from this site. But I am having difficulty selling this spot maybe Pediatricians are just too overbooked and don't need the new clients!? I would appreciate any advice from the pros. The site is top notch... really looks great and ranked well. There is a place for 3 doctors... I am thinking of cutting it back to 1 doctor because there has been no response. What is my problem? Is this a bad niche? I sell by phone but I got no calls at all from this.

The way I see it, you are charging too much for the traffic.
You are asking them to share 30 page views at $25+ per view, these are not even inquiries or leads.
These types of sites work, but the costs have to be in line with the traffic.

I agree with ostermeier and moromete, you are charging too high.

I have a site with the same approach, just other niche, and I am charging only $60/month each space and have the 3 contracted for a full year, so I am making $2,160 for a site I spent 2 hours to make and few bucks to make backlinks.

For this kind of site you have to have a lot of them to make a good amount each month, but since you find the 'path' it be worthed.

okay lower the prices... What about getting a letter through the gate keeper? Any other suggestions besides "Personal and Confidential"? Does that even work? I got it from a lady who used to be an officer manager at a Dental office... she said she never touched the mail marked Personal and Confidential. If anyone has some other proven tactics, please share. Thanks in advance

Sorry i cant help you but maybe you can help me. ........ anyway, Will you explain to me in detail how you are able to set up these type sites? I thought you have to have all of the personal info from the "so called owner" of the business to be able to list on GPs. How can you list addresses, names etc... of people that dont own it yet?

lower your prices...they can even get the same spot for much cheaper using google adwords dont you agree. Also, do you know how much is worth a new consult? You are trying to scam with this high price and they can absolute feel it.

don't try to explain that your website is on frontpage, seo stuff blabblabla...just speak their language: website receive visits from people looking for that in your town. Explain how they can benefit from it and dont tell the price until u receive a reply.

okay well thanks for replies... not trying to scam... maybe a little greedy... $60 is a fair price then? Sounds like a steal to me but right now the damn thing is sitting there doing nothing. I guess I could try mailing the same doctors again ... it was 3 weeks ago but I'm sure they have already forgotten about me... with the new price of $60-$40 per slot maybe they'll bite.

letters do absolutely nothing, right into the garbage, you have to call them speak with them and or go down and introduce yourself for the best conversions, otherwise you wont sell nothing and those prices are way too high, and every pediatrician office im in is always packed, i can be wrong but while there is a market for pediatricians there probably already listed on insurance sites and are a word of mouth business and probably are pretty happy with that, so when they see you they probably feel they dont need you

I have some firsthand experience with this, primarily because -

1.) I do a lot of local and "offline" marketing to businesses all across the board in lots of different niches AND
2.) I'm dating a pediatrician. And we've talked about building her a site.

So here's some words that are basically from the source:

The entire medical profession doesn't work at all like any other industry. With vision and dental it's a different story because a lot of people don't have insurance that covers these services, but for "regular" medical care, you're talking about an entirely different animal.

Very few medical practices have the need to do any proactive marketing whatsoever. Well over 80% of their business comes from referrals. The rest of it is primarily direct from insurance providers: a new potential "client" calls up their insurer or checks out their insurer's website and just scrolls through and finds a provider that they can go see.

So you're always going to be going upstream trying to land these clients. PLUS, getting through to the "Principle" is going to be almost as easy as alchemy... they simply make WAY too much money with their time to do anything other than actually work. They don't read mail, they don't take phone calls, they don't check email, and they don't care what their SEO rankings are... all they care about is the next patient and the next procedure. The really successful ones are mile-a-minute, ultra productive, type A personalities. In the time it takes them to read your offer and take in your 5 minute pitch they can remove a birthmark and bill out two grand. Literally.

With all that said - from a pure marketing perspective I think you should try to sell the secretary, not the Principle. And while I wouldn't suggest going all the way down to $60/month, I would say your price point is too high. And, finally, no doctor is ever going to pay to be 2nd or 3rd - or to be part of a group. Pitch your site to ONE doctor only. They're not going to pay to show up next to their competition.

I think you've got a great idea, and I love the local Internet marketing niche, but unfortunately you're dealing with a totally different breed of client. You're going to need to get an "in" through non-traditional means, and you're going to need to find someone that isn't already booked solid, which can be hard to do. When is the last time you tried to get a doctors appointment and they said, "Well, we've got openings any day this week... what day works for you?"

It just doesn't happen - if you're getting hooked up with a new doctor you're like waiting weeks to get an appointment because they're already booked solid. So good luck - I think you can crack this nut but it's not going to be simple.

I think you can still sell it, but the price you are asking is insane to me.

Try more like $79.99/MO.

Take a look at whatever the CPC cost for that keyword is, and multiply that by the number of unique visitors that website gets per day. Now cut that in half. THATS what you should be charging them per month.
