Hi everyone,

So I'm interested in starting a drop shipping business (beauty sector) with my own website and paid Facebook/Insta ads (plus marketing through YT and Pinterest) to promote it.

I know that most people use Amazon for their business and I kinda don't want to. I read that it's really hard to get approved in some categories (like beauty or fashion) and that they're really strict about stuff. On the other hand, Amazon is a huge marketing machine and I'm not sure how hard it would be to sell products just through my own Shopify website.

What's your take on this?

Thanks!!

If you're good at marketing making your own site should be a good idea, as after that you'll know how to drive traffic there. If on the other hand you don't really know marketing I'd go with amazon, at least they have a huge user base and would provide enough traffic for you to make it worthwhile. In the end, if you have the time you can go for both... it's not like you're doing competition with yourself ;)

I think you should use Shopify, it's easy to use and have many add-ons support for dropshipping. You also can migrate from another eCommerce store like Amazon to Shopify use tool like Litextension, so hope u have good choice.

It seems to me that you need to do a bit more digging into this field . Compare the traffic driving costs and the delivery / fulfillment costs . Based on those metrics you should get a better impression about the market .

In the end of the day its about bringing targeted traffic to your store and convert that traffic into sales . What kind of store or what kind of product you have plays no role if you don't know how to and where to promote your products .

Why only Amazon? why not eBay and others? Try both models for a year and see which one works for you.
