Selling Intergalactic Real Estate

New to the forum and was thinking about how I could provide some value. This was one of my first (and pretty lucrative hustles) before I started selling actual real estate and knew anything about SEO.

Selling stars. I set up a site to allow people access to name a star after their loved (in my star registry). Naming a star with NASA isn’t a real thing FYI. It’s basically a license to print money. I ran PPC ads to my campaigns and did especially well during Christmas and Valentine’s Day but would get orders year round.

Went to Office Depot, got some blank certificates, and would print the person’s name with star coordinates on it and send it out. I eventually started buying in bulk.

I had 3 product offerings.

1. Normal star for $24.99
2. Extra bright star for $39.99
3. Binary stars (2 stars orbiting each other) for $59.99

I shut it down about 5 years ago when I moved onto bigger things but for anyone looking for their next hustle, it could be worth looking into.

Interesting little hustle, how much were you spending on PPC ads? I'm assuming this was a profitable venture?

And I never even tried Facebook ads, probably would’ve done really good there.

How much were you spending on ads?

I was averaging $4k in ad spend to got $10k in sales. Again this was 5 years ago. I don’t have any fresh data. I also had no experience in PPC and how to optimize campaigns at the time either. Now most of my campaigns now get a 4 to 1 return but in a completely different industry.

Were the coordinates you gave people real star coordinates?

And if they were did you search up real stars online to give people?

Did you send pictures of the star as well?
