Selling Instagram Followers Now Illegal

Here are my thoughts:

The poor cops, prosecutor etc. now have to go after people who sell instagram followers. Rest in peace. What a fucking waste of time, resources and energy. Like there are no more serious criminal activities....especially in the US. Ridiculous shit.

They made $15 million from 2015-2017... pretty impressive. Stuff like that has always been against the terms of service, but the "against the law" is much more difficult to enforce, especially if it's on a state level.

Help me out here because im not an american but how come they are being prosecuted by a state of New York court if their business was based in the state of Colorado and so were their servers?

Downloading pirated music and movies was made illegal in the early-2000's. Didn't stop anyone LoL...

Like @nakamura said, good luck enforcing that.

Just add it to the list of things you're not supposed to do online because it's illegal and people will still do lol

I think law enforcement have bigger fish to fry than chasing after people selling followers lmao

Same story with pirating movies and music. Nothing story

when you have made $15m via semi-illegal means, you are bound to get chased by authorities

The New York General Attorney commented on it a few days ago..

Thoughts?

Probably because this is considered fraud because they deceived their clients by offering to grow their accounts with real followers, and instead bought fakes for it.

Glad they got caught, they deserve to get busted. Bad companies like this give good ones a bad name...plenty of 100% legit companies out there.

Because there's a HUGE difference between allowing people to choose to buy fakes for their account, and deceiving clients without telling them.
