selling facebook status updates??!??!

I was searching for something and came across people buying/selling facebook status updates. What is the purpose of this? Upon thinking about it, it seems
that they want to get the word out about a specific product/item by those individuals who have a lot of fans??

Also, are the search engines now including status updates as part of their search criteria?!?!

I believe you can get banned for this?? but still probably worth looking into

Well, to actually answer the OP question: It's both a backlink, and promotion. If it's cheap enough I think it'd be good link diversification. Finding enough for a low price is the trick though. Nobody knows what Google thinks for sure but I am a fan (no pun intended) of facebook links.
