whats really stopping me from selling an ebook of a website which i havent paid for? for example, if i downloaded an ebook from this forum, created a site and start making money, whos to say, stop you cant sell this? i know there's a resellers clause in some books, but still, whats stopping other people?

In general you can get away with it but it would be much smarter to repurpose the material in the book and make it your own.

I did that a few years ago (when I was younger and enjoyed taking risks) and got away with it for a few months. Then I received a Cease and Desists letter from the owner, I paid some guy a few hundred $ to rewrite the ebook, replaced it and problem solved. However, I wouldn't do that now because I'm focusing on white hat stuff.

Rewriting the basic concepts of the ebook in your own words takes very little time, maybe a few hours at most, and eliminates all the risk. Why not just rewrite it? Is the few hours you'll save by selling someone elses material instead of your own really worth the risks of big fines and maybe even jail time? Seems like a bad idea to me
