    Greetings Everyone,

I was very surprised to see the amount of people responding to the thread about selling digital products on eBay using the DVD/CD tactic. I have been using this method before coming to BHW and am going to share with you a couple things I have learned while using this to make a "little" cash.

First off... "E file", what is that? Sorry guys, that's just the cute little thing I decided to call it. Lol, I called it an "E file" because the small pieces I wrote were hardly large enough to be E books. We are talking about bits of UNIQUE, or NEW information that one is not going to get in PLR products or what have you.

Example: (this is a real example) I wrote a small 3 page "e file" on How to Fake a Pregnancy Test. WTF? Yes, that is what I did. (Psssst, I am not a girl btw, just hungry for profits and the story behind this is for another time, feel free to ask.)

This was a small 3 page print out on the step by step process of making a "real test" appear "positive" in every way.

However!, before I lay out the 1,2,3's of this stay with me, because there is something you should know about selling products this way and I will cover it at the end.

    1. Establishing what it is that you will write about.
*Think outside the box, way outside the box, for instance, write about the soap opera drama you have seen unfold from friends and family. I am talking about the REAL sappy tabloid stuff, only this is first hand info. Think people won't buy it? Think again. Sell secrets or all the other marketable information.*

    2. Declare in the listing that this product will be mailed to the buyer in an envelope as an actual product. State clearly that it will be either printed out on paper or on a CD.

    3. Pricing. What price to set? The Key here is LOW. Very low prices ranging from a $2 to $5.
This is important because you want to provide your target audience with a jewel of information. Something the buyer will not really think twice about buying if this is what he is looking for. You want these e files to fly out of your home. Essentially, what you want is to create a business based around "pocket information". Think like Cliff Notes does. See what I am getting at?

**Google the eBay calculator by Ryan Olbe. It's Free. Use it. Don't ever eBay without it! Book mark it, but don't do business without it. I see so many people think they are making a profit on what they sell but never take in to account all the fee's that there are**

Ok, Pharoah, you said there was a catch earlier, what is it? Boy, am I going to tell you because this pissed me off so bad when this became apparent to me. Here we go...
In another thread, someone asked about "printing out" the digital media and why it hasn't been covered. I will tell what happens to these pathetic little human minds when they get an envelope in the mail and the "information" is printed out.

As soon as they read what you worked hard to write(or didn't work hard on ;) ) all of a sudden, these arrogant little people start to think that your information was SO OBVIOUS. They start to think that they KNEW this information already. This is complete B.S. They would not have purchased it if they knew it already. 2 out of 10 people may leave you negative feedback. They will claim that what you wrote was common sense and that they knew this all along.

How to combat this? The price you are offering is so low, they don't deserve a refund. In my opinion. Make it CLEAR in your listing that you do not offer refunds. If they have a problem with your information, or it gets lost, send them another free of charge.
Ultimately, put ALL of your information on CD. It keeps that psychological door closed and makes these little people more comfortable with their purchase. As soon as they realize that you typed up these e files on the computer and printed them out, they get all smart and feel like they should not have paid you for something that they "knew already" and could have done for themselves.

Just remember the low prices. This is what gets the customers as far as this goes. $27 - $47 is too much and these are not ebooks. And, I would never price something like this higher than $7.

Converting to sales, how good is it? Well I say that it does not matter what you write about, especially if this will be a niche e file. Once again I am hammering down the low price. It helps suck in those curious browsers too who feel that $5 or less is not a risk. A smoker will smoke this money away, what will he pay to you masterminds who work your magic on those who "want" to make millions of dollars in the next 5 minutes.

In closing, I am making decent money from time to time. This is one of my methods and the information broker field will never be competitive. One who has information, has information. I do not claim this will make you thousands and thousands but I must point out that there are niches like crazy for this. And some of you will make some decent cash. Its all about creativity. Just use that calculator and make sure you never forget to account for every penny. Even the stamps you use. Make the buyer pay for all. Don't forget about listing fee's too. They need to be paid for.

Lay your head on your pillow "knowing" you made a profit.

    Regards,

    Pharoah

P.S. As weird as it sounds, you all must read the "Ferengi Rules of Acquisition". ~Star Trek~ Google it. It's just good business.

Before I got the boot, I listed items as physical products and when 1 was purchased, would send the buyer a pre-made message with a link to download their item, along with a bonus, explaining that they shouldn't have to wait to receive their info, that it's stupid to send a physical product when they can just download it, that the bonus was included to make them happy with the download, and to let me know if they weren't satisfied with the arrangement so that I could get their cd sent out if not.

No, no up selling. I was just relying on the interested traffic to eventually convert. You know the whole, "they must be looking for something to buy". lol The incentive tactic I use is the low price. Like I said, some people get that "oh what the hell" attitude and buy it.

Too often inexperienced IM's for this small time gig will put the price on their goods based on their own sense of self worth. This is understandable, since it is easy to think because you worked so hard on something it has to be worth a million dollars.
