Selling books online

Basically, my gma is 75+ years old but has somewhat of an intriguing life story being 75 years and old and self-publishing books/ becoming a lawyer at 50+.

Im not sure how much shes sold but she needs help marketing it.

Ive done a decent amount of research regarding selling books online, but im not exactly sure how one would cultivate a following for such a rigid product, where the consumers arent receiving much.

I have a few ideas about this..but i was just wanting to know if there are any experienced book sellers here? Its not like im an affiliate trying to sell her stuff but i could literally have control over any direction she goes..

What should i look into? Or what approach should i take?

Go sells the books on Amazon. I can't believe you didn't mention it in the OP...

I believe shes done that. Again, shes attempted stuff on her own

I do remember reading about some programs. I cant remember if it was amazon or kindle. For some reason i think it was kindle; and there were some stipulations regarding the program. For example, if you sign up with kindle you cant advertise via any other site.

I know shes tried various methods of raising and reducing the prices, and while shes sold some, its not much. Shes also done free book giveaways and had people read it and write reviews but again its not THAT much.

There are so many books out there and im having a hard time seeing how one cultivates the original following. A novel, to me, is different from a lot of these products and sites we attempt because the user isnt getting MUCH. A novel for entertainment is different than getting a weight loss packet or book where the user is intending on receiving something beneficial. Not that a book doesnt provide entertainment, its just a bit different, especially without the benefit of the lure of the writers prestige to entice them to originally buy it.

I have some ideas but i was just curious if anybody had any experience regarding selling books specifically

Have you read it?
Who is the book aimed at?
Is the book actually worth promoting?
Many people think they can be a writer and numerous people have a go at self publishing and only manage to sell a few copies to family members.

From what i understand there has been some critical praise regarding it. I know she knows a lot of writers that have liked it. These are just vague things i remember but i know she wrote some of these at workshops at a college and either won something or people liked it.

I would definitely say its within the women's fiction niche, but i know of a lot of men that have read it and liked it too. No, i havent read it yet, but i definitely should
