Sellers and hidden profiles

Could it be mandatory that sellers cannot hide their profiles please?

This member limits who may view their full profile.

So for replying to WTB, HAF or running BSTs, they need profiles to be visible.

This seller possibly has issues, but people who are potential buyers cannot see what he/she is posting etc nor check replies and other comments.

If sellers ( especially of high value items ) have nothing to hide, then they surely have no need to hide profiles?

Agreed. I was actually going to post something similar. I’ve seen a few posts by members who have had an issue with a sale from a Jr VIP who was hiding their profile.

I dont think this option is available in xenforo . and if it is not very hard to implement

Also it means you can check their previous posting history. It sometimes looks suspect when an account is 9 years old, suddenly upgrades on 104 posts and replies to HAF/WTB etc and you cannot check out their history.

Yeah I think sellers should always have their accounts visible. But what about other Jr VIPs that don't have BSTs but do respond to WTB & HAF?

You've requested this before and for the same reasons as quoted before it's not something that we'd make mandatory.

If you want to buy from someone and part of your buying decision is for them to display their profile you should suggest it to the seller in their thread. If they don't, then you move on to the next seller that will offer what you want.

Sellers - I'd always recommend showing your profiles as it helps people with their buying decisions. When I'm asked by buyers which seller they should choose, I always recommend going with the seller that matches their need, which you can see from the types of posts they make, their avatar choices, the language they use, the areas they comment in, types of comment and the information in their profile. If you (as a seller) hide your profile you're just missing out on potential buyers.

We're all about giving enough information for buyers to find the correct sellers. If that seller doesn't want to share their profile and miss the sale then equally that's their call.

We'll not be making this mandatory in the current marketplace.
