    Hi

http://www.selectingcarinsurance.com is my little SEO project.

The site was launched yesterday. It's not indexed by mr G yet :(
I've uploaded a sitemap of it to "Google Webmaster Tool" and also registered the site in my "Google Webmaster Tool"

Now about to start a linkjuicer campaign, creating inlinks to the site

Any suggestions on getting ranked, other websites I should post link to my site from are welcome

Mate - first thing is well done for getting off your arse and actually doing something, simply by doing that you are in the market to produce results and get things moving.

That said though if your looking to make some money out of this site (page!) then you may want to rethink a few things. Firstly, the keyword you have choosen which I believe is 'selecting car insurance' does not have much in the way of searches and will therefore not bring you much in the way of traffic. Secondly, you are going to need something alittle more substantial in terms of content than what you currently have. Your home page to stand any chance needs to be keyword rich and a good 700-800 words at min.

As you probably know the car insurance market is saturated but there are still some juicy long tail keywords out there and in my view this is the only way you are going to get any form of look in. If your whitehat then simply follow the above and start getting some links from decent sites using some form of research tool to get things and google indexing your site and get as many of them as possible.

create more pages based upon long tails and link to them (deep linking) as well - best thing to do is to sit down and draw up a decent plan to include site design, layout, amount of pages, content of pages based on keywords, and backlinking work you need to do.

I have many sites and the ones which have proven succcessful are the ones with substantial unique content with a decent amount of pages - if the contents good people will link to it themselves which is preceisly what happended to my most successful sites. Blackhat methods to gain more visitors (and therefore more clicks) are avalaible on here in significant numbers - just hit search.

Having a decent plan and the desire to do something with it will stand you in good stead! good luck.

    Hi

I haven't paid much attention to this affiliate site the last couple of months. Mainly because very few searches for the keyword it's optmizied for. I created the site before I learned about keyword research.

But I cannot believe it's ranked 8 in google for the keyword selecting car insurance. It have in exact search about 60.000.000 competing pages and very few backlinks (about 5 links of PR0).

The site have canonical issues also, Google may think www.selectingcarinsurance.com and www.selectingcarinsurance.com/index.html is different pages.

I compare this to another site I have which have I've created about 160 backlinks for and is still ranked 40 (30.000.000 compteting pages in exact search) despite being listed in dir.yahoo.com directory. Spent lot of time optmizing it

selectingcarinsurance.com is made in static html while the other site is made in asp.net

Too me it's strange that this site can rank so googd despite it's not very optimized

There are not 60000000 pages competing for that phrase, they just contain the phrase - the phrase get barely any searches! It isn't the number of competitors that matters - it's the number of searches and the quality of the competitors.

okay, I see. Anyway I don't belive how my site rank higher than sites which have over 300 very good backlinks (about 6 backlinks placed on pages with PR5 or PR6 - which I suppose is very good)... despite that my site rank higher

about 300 very good backlinks and about 1400 backlinks in total for the site I compare my site with

I can accept a little damage to the advertisers if it throws a few cents into the op's adsense account. There's nothing like seeing numbers to help inspire a person.

I recently saw another thread on this type of thing. There was something about editing your .htaccess on your website so that all of its pages redirect to your homepage then you change your homepage for a while so that it is really simple no fancy shit, just plain HTML with keyword loaded content, Because of this I think there is something about google and preferring simplicity+KW-rich content. Congrats on #6 in google. Hope you make some money with this site :)

Man, I've made a few blog sites already but still need to get better at keyword research and SEO to get any traffic or nice google ranking hehe. I'll find a niche soon! hehe
    Best of luck :D
