Selecting a Niche for my next website

I've successfully established a good website that is making me decent money and I'm ready to move onto another one.

This one will not be completely automated and will require some effort. I am thinking about creating another recipe website for food recipes. I know it's nothing new, but the idea is to be better than others.

How realistic is it to rank in this niche? The reason for this niche is because my mum loves cooking so I thought I would make her cooking worth it and let her make some money out of it.

Of course if it's established and big there is no problem to monetize, but I would like to niche it down to let's say "cake recipes" and then add "desert recipes" and grow in that manner.

Would you say this niche is over saturated? Or there is a lot of money to be made, if approached with the correct business plan? I will have around 30,000 to invest. That would include building a professional website and marketing. (With marketing done by me).

Recipe sites are extremely competitive and I would urge you to avoid involving your moms cooking on your site because it might be a liability for both of you due to time and financial crisis that could result from involving your parent in your business, espcially when family changes over monetary concerns.
