SEF URLs vs SiteMap

Hello,

I have a Joomla site, and the URLs are anything but search-engine-friendly.
I've decided to have a detailed SiteMap, set up a cron job and submit the SiteMap to Google and Yahoo at regular intervals.

Will this help? Can the sitemap overcome the limitation of non-SEF URLs?
Will my pages still get indexed quickly?

The sitemap helps spiders crawl you website, but it doesn't mean that they'll like it. Why not get an SEF plugin like SH404SEF? I use it and it works great, makes customized URLs for me and I can create and edit Meta tags easily... Search for SH404SEF on the Joomla plugins site.

I'm using the ads_manager component.
SH404SEF does not support it.

Artio (JoomSEF) has a paid extension for ads_manager - I bought it - but it doesn't work.
It's slows down the site - and the site eventually stops working.

That's why I've ruled using an SEF component...
 
I think what he is getting at is the fact that the pages may well get indexed quicker if you do the sitemap idea that you have, but they wont necessarily rank overly well. SEF links are so called because search engines love em, they give a brief description of what the page is all about.

SEF page links are quite an important part of any on-site SEO campaign and should be looked at very seriously.If you can, make your links SEF
 
ktop what version of joomla are you using... artio shouldn't be slowing down your site like that...

how many entries do you have in your adsmanager component?

SEF urls are also human friendly too! :)

Using 1.0 as the ads_manager component isn't updated for 1.5...

artio by itself is fine, but the artio extension for adsmanager isn't.
And support for that is non-existent - in spite of it being a paid extension.
 
i hear you about the support - are you using the paid version of artio too? what version is your main artio component?
 
I'm using the free artio - 2.
Only the extension is paid...
 
Anyone want to share the paid artio JoomSEF :D. I got the free version and I probably wouldnt mind the footer if it didnt cut off half my site. For some reason its screwing it up. much appreciated !
 
NVM! got it. 3.2.0 nulled. if anyone wants it just post and Ill put it up here ;D
