Though I could not believe but it has happened to me. 2-3 days back, I installed Wp Super Cache plugin on one of my blog. The average daily traffic was 7K/day and the day I installed, it dropped down to 900 and yesterday it was 600 and today also, its only 600...

Is it because of this Plugin or could be becoz of some other reason. The number of pages indexed in google is same, PR is same.. then why 1/10 of traffic in a day...

That is odd. Do you have any stats programs that can show you if SE traffic, type-in traffic, or referring traffic has changed?

@ gregstereo: I have StatPress Reloadeded installed. Referral traffic is still same but search traffic has become dead. I used to get around 8-10 visitors in a minute and now its only one in a minutes or one in 2 minutes kind of

I've not seen wp super cache effect my SE traffic myself. I'd look further into why your search traffic is so dead all of a sudden (and in the meantimeyou might want to deactivate wp super cache if you haven't already just to be safe).

In fact, I did it just 5-10 minutes back.. I even modified the .htaccess to previous one. And just trying to remember, what all thing I changed during installation to revert it like earlier.

When my SE traffic dropped it was because Google removed my site from their blogsearch. It was still showing in the normal search.

If I had to guess I would say Statspress probably requires a dynamic site to count hits properly. WP Super Cache would turn the pages into static html which Statspress wouldn't count. Stick a third party counter on the pages to see if your traffic has really dropped, or if it's just statspress not getting called.

@ agentcash, though you have a valid point but what about G Adsense impression.. dropped from 18K impression/day to close to 1K impression.. tht can not be becoz of any stats program...

@ B03S, I see a very much valid point here. This could be a major reason. I will just check it out and update. But why they do this kind of funny thing,,, removing from blog search and keeping in general search....

UPDATE: I am very much indexed in blog search with around 4000 pages indexed...

Well I went to read about Super Cache and the plugin sounds great. I'd like to start using... Unless of course there really is an issue with loss of traffic.

I just remember that I also installed one other plugin (new one) named earnitup, which claims to increase your adsense earning up by 30% immediately.

Though I never believed it can do so but installed it for trial.... Is it possible for this plugin to divert my 90% of the traffic to their site..

I have uninstalled this plugin but still no improvement... If traffic does not restore in 1 day, I am gonna uninstall WP and reinstall...

I don't want to tell you what to do, but if I were you I would hold off on anything like uninstalling WP just yet. Based on what you've said I don't think it will solve anything for you, just cost you time which is money.

I've read a bit about earnitup but not used it myself, so don't really know how likely a suspect it is. I'd pull it since it's one of the variables in play. And I"m pretty confident wp super cache is not a culprit either, but I'd encourage you to keep thinking of what other changes you've made recently - and I don't just mean plugins or code changes to your site. Based on your @dsense impressions dropping so bad, it sounds like someone on the web has slapped your site or is dancing you around (read about the Google Dance? you might want to).

Have you been doing any marketing/promoting/backlink building or anything else with the site in question lately? Sometimes campaigns can be like boomerangs - sometimes they hit the person you threw the boomerang at, sometimes they spin back around and hit you.

I know it's frustrating to see such a traffic drop. In the past week or two, one of my AB's has taken off like a rocket, but one of my other ones has dropped like a....well, like a rocket that launched successfully but then started to disintegrate higher up. Figuring out traffic swings - up or down - is part of the challenge, sometimes it's fun, sometimes it sucks.
