Hey all, I am new here and my name is Jay.

I recently had some discussion in another thread which enlightened me to a few aspects of these forums in general.

Unfortunately, this section seems to be cluttered and a few stickies seem to be outdated. Is there anyone that can point me in the direction of some good tutorials or guides that will help me learn/master self YouTube promotion and making money on YouTube?

I am an up and coming artist who actually feels that my music and videos are top notch. Nevertheless, I am totally lost as to how artists like "Mac Miller" went viral. I not only want to do this myself, but I want to UNDERSTAND how just one video can get such a buzz and what a YouTube artist such as himself must have done to take that first leap.

I do not want to link my video as I am sure it is against some TOS for these forums, but I would love to share my material if anyone thinks it may help them point me in the right direction (ie maybe my stuff sucks for viral).

Thank you all for the anticipated assistance and I hope I can build a good relationship with you all to make some money!

    Current tools I am using:

    Tube Toolbox
    Vagex
Enhanceviews (for self created comments and subs)

First, I would do some keyword research, then implement the best words to my video, then I would post in the artist and community sections of cl and post my video link. Then I would have all of my friends, and their friends watch it. If your music really is that good, all you need is a few people to view it, then word of mouth starts spreading.

Use tube toolbox and learn it well it's a powerful video, back link your video so it ranks in google and do cover so you can piggyback off their traffic.

Don't try to go viral. That's the first mistake.

Do you have a guide to back link? I am not familiar with that terminology.

Backlinking is when you post links to your site on other websites.

Thank you for clearing that up.

I have been using Tube Toolbox to gather videos within my specific target (ie other big underground rappers) and auto-post comments on them.

Is there any other advice regarding Tube Toolbox you can give me? Something I may be missing that is detrimental to utilizing the tool to its fullest. Obviously, you can exclude basic usage, was just looking for a useful tip that a hardcore user may have came across.

Thanks again for all your help. Its been a true step in the right direction talking to you all.
